Here is the bugfix
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/774978
Maybe update-manager can help?
Thanks, but that's something else - the logout only happens with Libre Office Impress for me.

I think, that's not the same either - this bug here happens in browsers.

Hi
I still think it's worth clicking the "This bug affects me too" and maybe add a
comment.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/778490
Perhaps you only really push your graphics card and the Xorg server with
Impress. If you tried playing Glest or something heavy in Wine or played movies
or had multimedia going on in your web-browser then maybe that's where you would
have noticed the effects?

Tom
Hi Tom,
it was worth a try, but it didn't work. I tried installing a newer version of the package and uninstalling it completely - without any change.
I watch movies on my computer, use flash stuff in the browser, but the bug only occurs in Impress.

Karsten

Hi
LO 3.3.2 is usually very stable. The problem seems to be with either Ubuntu
11.04. Given that there are 2 bug-reports about very similar issues i think it
might be worth posting a new bug-report at Launchpad and then link it to the 2
similar ones that people have found already.
Personally i would probably take the lazier route of just adding a comment to
either of the bug-reports found so far and if a triager or anyone asked me to
post separately i would do that then. It might save someone the effort of
finding a common-cause or help them pin down exactly where the problem is.
On your system i would probably want to install a dual-boot of Ubuntu 10.04 or
10.10 to see if it happens in there too. Virtual machines are sometimes too
idealised and may be glossing over some real hardware problem, although i am
increasingly doubting that. I probably wouldn't get around to doing the
dual/multi-boot install but it would lurk in my "to do" list. Ubuntu needs
about 15Gb to feel comfortable and i just couldn't face clearing that much
space! lol
Since impress is working in the virtual machine then is there a problem with
keeping on using it there? You probably can't save to usb-stick if using
VirtualBox and saving to the real hard-drive might be tricky. I'm not sure i
could cope with the vm workaround.
Good luck and regards from
Tom
Hi Tom,
thanks for your help. So I'm going to find a workaround (like the one with the virtual machine), until the problem is fixed. And I'll see if I will post something on launchpad (never done that before, but it's certainly worth learning).
Best regards,
Karsten

Hi
Launchpad is a good place to register at if you use Ubuntu. It has quite a few
different sections, such as the Answers forum. Another good place to register
at is
http://www.ubuntuforums.com
although you can use your launchpad login there too.
A good forum to register for other gnu&linux distros (including Ubuntu) is
http://www.linuxquestions.org
