LibreOffice-Base CPU usage

Hi
Ahah, thanks Jay.  I was hoping that HSql only dipped into using java for a few things.  So, Don needs to have that java box ticked all the time he uses Base and can only avoid it when not using Base at all.

Is it possible to edit short-cuts and stuff so that opening Base will enable java but opening java wont?  I think it might be possible in Gnu&Linux by having 2 different short-cuts on the desktop or in the taskbar/panel.

To be clear, Don only needs to have the Java box ticked when opening
Base AND using a backend that requires Java, like HSQL.

As for your second paragraph, I suspect you meant "but opening WRITER
won't"... ? If so, the answer is probably "no". LO isn't a
collection of unrelated apps, it's a suite, at least inasmuch as it
only has one set of options for some things, like using Java. It
looks to me like these options are stored at the user level so he
could set up a second user, bit of a nuisance but that could do it I
think.

One small step for mankind...

Hi Don,

There is an old saying - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The thing I
dislike most about Base is to have to open three windows to get to my
form in the database. Some time ago I left a post on an Open Office
forum asking if there was a way to set up a macro so I could do it in
one click.

You can save your forms outside of the ODB file, and open them from that
outside location. "Save as..." and then choose where you want to save
your form. This then means that you have to manage an ODB file plus any
forms you have saved elsewhere if you want to redistribute a working db
solution.
