4.2.4 is unusable on Unbuntu 14

The application start appears, start status goes to about 10%, hangs for 30
seconds, continues to application launch, app is greyed out for a minute, is
briefly responsive, greys out again, interacting while it's greyed out
presents an application not responding prompt. Options are to wait or force
close.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times with no change in behaviour.
Other applications are not having issues and the problem is not related to
the performance of this machine (haswell w/32gb ram and SSD).

LibreOffice version is 4.2.4

No LSB modules are available.

Hi,

did you download from the ubuntu repos or from the LO website?

When you say "the application" which one in particular? writer? calc? LibreOffice?
