Hi,
I'm sorry if some of you think my comments on Windows were misplaced. I am
actually a Unix geek having worked with HPUX, Sun Solaris and AIX since 1993
and used Windows since version 3.1.

Back in the 90's and up to about mid- '2000, Windows and the h/w it ran on
could not hold a candle to the performance, stability and security of a Unix server.
In the company I worked for (Int'l bank), it was a rule that mission-critical
apps could not use Windows as a platform - only Unix or MF.
And to re-iterate, MAC OSX runs on top of a Unix lower layer.

Hi,

I have a doc file that crashes libreoffice writer on windows 7 64 bit.

Can I send it somewhere?

LibreOffice 3.3.0
OOO330m19 (Build:6)
tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4

This is embarrassing... I'm sure I saved it to my hard drive.... somewhere! LOL

And now, I can't remember the name either. It's also possible I stumbled on to a page for Mac4Lin, which is an OS X theme for Linux. But I don't think I would have saved that.

I'll keep looking for it, and when I do find it, I'll let you know.

Ken

Hi
There are a lot of themes or DEs that have some elements of a "Mac" feel or look
because Mac developed from Bsd which shares a lot of gnu&linux stuff. When
Ubuntu moved it window/console buttons to the left and switched from light to
dark themes a lot of people said it switched from a "Windows" look to a "Mac"
look. Mac doesn't seem anxious to try to assert copyright probably because many
of it's UI components were first seen in Gnu and then modified.

The question is what elements do you want to change to make your distro look
more like Mac? Then you could try to configure those elements. I like the
Windows style taskbars but many people install Avant Windows Navigator and then
set that to start-up at every boot.

Evolution is far too unstable/buggy to be used as a serious email
program... even on linux, it is fairly unstable (google will show you
tons of evidence in support of this contention), but on windows it is
still totally unusable except for playing around. Yes, there are some
people here and there that seem to not have much problems with it, but
those are the exception, not the rule.

I second that report, I constantly get files in word format, and prefer to edit in LibreOffice, but the crashes are constant, and have rendered the program completely impracticable....

Is it possible to try it with the latest versions, i.e. 3.3.1 or 3.3.2rc1?
Is it specifically on Windows7/64?
I can test on Linux and an older XP os, so feel free to send the file.

Of course there is the possibility to file bugs.
The more specific, the better.
Pls see here http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport/nl

Can you pls look at the questions I wrote to Hans-Cees in the other mail?

Thanks,
