Add/Remove RTL and LTR buttond to formating toolbar has no effect

Salam,

* Linux/Ubuntu-10.10-32bits + LibO-3.3-RC4

the RTL+LTR buttons are *alaways on* the formatting toolbar either you
add/remove them from the visible toolbar buttons.

* WinXP + LibO-3.3-RC4
the RTL+LTR buttons are *never on* the formatting toolbar either you
add/remove them from the visible toolbar buttons.

Can anyone confirm that..? and then file a bug if it's confirmed

Thank you and good luck to you all!

I don't think I'm seeing them, but I have to ask: what are RTL and LTR?

Effectiveness (“Do the right things”)
Efficiency (“Do the things right”)

I don't think these are correct....

LTR = Left To Right and covers languages such as English
RTL = Right To Left and covers languages such as Arabic

I think the phrases in brackets imply that they explain what the preceeding word
means but in both of these cases they are just adding to the word rather than
explaining. The grammar looks wrong at first glance but does work when you
think about it a bit. It made me edgy at first too but it is right.

I don't see those buttons on my Ubuntu 10.10 LORC4....

Salam,

ok, so what about the RTL and LTR buttons on the formatting toolbar...?

On windows XP those two buttons are visible on the formatting toolbar, even
if you chose to make them invisible they still be visible, and i think that
is a bug, by the way it's the same thing with OoO-3.2.

On Linux/Ubuntu-10.10-32bits. it's the opposite, the two buttons are always
invisible.

if you can confirm it to be able to file a bug.

thank you all !

You deleted all context, so I don't know whom you're asking in
reference to what.

I don't see these in the writer (Ubuntu 10.10 LORC4). You may be
getting them because of your selected language(s).

Salam MR ZenWiz,

no i dont think its because of my selected language(s)

have a look at the png file

good luck to you all !

To get the LTR and RTL buttons available to put on the toolbar the
following option must be enabled:
Tools -> Options -> Language Settings -> Language -> Enabled for
Complex Text Layout

Yes, but once the option enabled for CTL, it's impossible to remove the two
buttons from the formatting toolbar.

is this a normal behavior..?

thank you all !

No, you should be able to remove them by right-clicking on the toolbar
and selecting "visible buttons".

yes that should be the normal behavior.

but deselecting visible buttons (i'm talking about the rtl and ltr) just
does not act normally, it just does nothing and the two buttons cannot be
removed from the formatting toolbar, while the other buttons behave
normally (added* and removed as expected).

anyone to confirm ..?

i'm on a Ubuntu-10.10-32bits machine with LibO-3.3-RC4

thank you!

I can confirm that the buttons cannot be removed in OOo 3.2. Shall I
file the bug, or would you like the honours?

 Plz go ahead

Great project for a great future Inchallah !

You should file it on buzilla:
http://www.libreoffice.org/get-involved/qa-testers/
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugTriage
  https://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=LibreOffice

I filed on the OOo bugzilla as it is reproducible there:
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=116559

Amine, please confirm that and mention that the problem exists in
Windows as well. Thanks.

Great project for a great future Inchallah !

Inchallah that we will have working software, a peaceful existence,
and a terrific FOSS community!

um... sure, that's a bit of an exageration, but I don't think we're
going to be seeing any more OOo packages wasting server space from here
on out.

As for me personally? ANYTHING related to EllisonCo that I don't
absolutely have to have will be removed forthwith.

Here's an excerpt from Eric himself...

<snip>

Here they are: packages for the third release candidate of the upcoming
LibreOffice 3.3.0. They have been compiled from source, as opposed to
repackaging RPM files. These packages are native Slackware stuff. If you
are running Slackware with a non-english localization, you can
additionally install an appropriate language pack. No dictionaries are
included, get a dictionary for your language at
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/dictionaries

You can find the Slackware LibreOffice package and language packs – and
associated build scripts – at the usual locations:

http://alien.slackbook.org/blog/libre-office-3-3-0-rc3/

</snip>

To intstall the package, if you've already got OOo installed on your
machine, simply download the package above and upgrade OOo to LO by the
following:
# upgradepkg openoffice.org%libreoffice
Your dictionaries should remain intact

I'll be maintaining a package (and SBo) for OxygenOffice as soon as
there's a new release based on LO, which there presumably will be. I
doubt the OxygenOffice folks will stick w/EllisonCo's deprecated software.

Well I hope that brings a smile to everyone's faces

Kindest regards,
