alphabetical index: how do they work?

Hi there,

I am quite confused... I have been spending all day trying to understand how
to create an alphabetical index for an ebook I am working on.
I have read this:

but I am still at a loss...
For example I would alike to get the page numbers on all entries (like in
the doc I linked above), not just the secondary ones. Also I would like to
have entries that don't have secondary entries... at the moment I can only
get a primary entry and a secondary entry that is identical to the primary one.
Not to mention making the index made of hyperlinks (the table of contents is
not an issue), just like, you guessed it, the file above.

Not sure if I am making any sense here... Perhaps you can direct me to some
docs where things are described a bit more in depth.

Hi Tom,

thanks for that, but I must confess I am none the wiser... I have downloaded the plugin in Firefox as it doesn't seem to be available in LO (or perhaps I couln't find it). In any case, from what I have read, Zotero is not designed to create an alphabetical index, but things like a bibliography.

I think there is an external Extension/Add-on/Plug-in/package called
"Zotero" or "Zoteros" that greatly improves this sort of thing in
LibreOffice/OO and MS office

Hmmm, sorry about that! I haven't used Zotero myself but seen that
many other people really appreciate it. I got the impression it was
much easier to use. I should have said that it's an independent
product and doesn't appear in the LO Extension's library. Sorry about
that! Nicely found!

It is best to "Reply to all" or "Group reply" or "Reply to list" or
some similar option instead of replying to an individual. That way
other people can chime in with greater expertise or just other ideas.
I don't mind getting duplicate emails. I think my email 'client'
deals with the duplicates automatically for me but sometimes i just
have to click the "delete" key twice instead of once which is not all
that strenuous. Some people grumble about getting duplicates but most
of us are used to it and have found work-arounds. So, the way you
replied was perfect.
