I have several of their "collections" in archive/compressed form.
Near the bottom of this page is those collections.

Their names are:
Fall 2010
Halloween 2010
Sports 2010
Sprint 2010
Summer 2010
Thanksgiving 2010
and Winter Holidays 2010.
The error for Open Clipart pages shows
quote:
The site has been experiencing some backend performance issues and is currently down for maintenance. We will bring the site back online soon when we can resolve those issues.

So if you want to try their collections, go to my link.
But if you want to browse the web, a Google search list many sites with free clipart sites.
Hi
It seems that they expect to be back up and running in a few days time. It might be possible to download a large amount of the images and then browse them on your own machine?

Is there something similar within the CreativeCommons project or do they mirror the selection in some way?

In the LibreOffice-NA.US site, we have Open Clipart collections, almost 72 Meg of zipped files, from 2010.
Until they come back up, you could download the artwork on that site. One reason for a DVD was to have most everything you need without needing to go online.
Where is the evidence for this claim? Or yet another example of an
incorrect statement?
You could check <http://www.openclipart.org/> website. There is message
saying:
"We will bring the site back online soon when we can resolve those issues."

If English is not your first language, mistakes are OK but it typical
of the poster: "soon" becomes "days"???
I don't think anyone sane would call "weeks" (or "months") "soon", so I guess
that Tom does not make huge mistake by treating "days" and "soon" as synonyms.
But, of course, OCA downtime may last longer than expected. So OCA developers
predict that it will take few days (hence "soon"), but it will take few weeks
or even months.
Hi
It is obviously long enough to try to find a work-around or alternative system but it's reassuring to see that their problem might get fixed 'soon'.
Until it is back up there seems to be at least 1 person that needs to find an alternative system in a hurry and that should be the focus of this thread. There is a separate list for general discussions.

Well I am still saying that on the NA-DVD site, we have listed the 2010 clipart collections that OpenClipart created for us. Those archived files are on my domain/web server so it is not down. I think that if you want to use their seasonal or holiday clipart, you can go to the NA-DVD Artwork page and at the bottom of that page, you will see the collections listed below.
openclipart-fall2010-full.zip
openclipart-halloween2010-full.zip
openclipart-sports2010-full.zip
openclipart-spring2010-full.zip
openclipart-summer2010-full.zip
openclipart-thanksgiving2010-full.zip
openclipart-winter-holidays2010-full.zip
For now, that should help many users for OpenClipart.org's service. Also there are other clipart services out there, some free, that you can use. Hopefully OpenClipart.org will be up withing the next few weeks, but they are not the only source of clipart, by a long shot.
