Auto Text import/export for sharing with other users

Our auto texts are saved in our profile under ../user/autotext/mytexts.bau.

If I want to export or share my auto texts with someone else, I can send
this file (mytexts.bau) that the other user can put in his autotext
directory while replacing his own mytexts.bau.

But what if I want to merge my autotexts with another user's ones? The
import options in the autotext menu is for importing... MSOffice :frowning:
templates... But I don't use neither interact with MSOffice files, only
OpenDocument.

Is there a solution?

I have a central folder with the same structure as the "user" folder, actually it is a copy of an older version which I use to keep all the entries I want to preserve. I then add in Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Paths the path to this central folder for the categories "AutoText". Only one of the both paths can have write access, but you can switch the writing right when needed.

I do the same with the category "Templates".

That works even across LibreOffice and Apache OpenOffice and across different versions. That way I have the folder under "user" newly for each of the lot of versions I test, and a permanent folder for my real work.

When you manage your AutoText entries (Ctrl+F3), then you will see two entries "My Auto Text" and maybe other duplicates. But when you hover the entry, it will show you a yellow tooltip with the path it has. So you can distinguish them.

Kind regards
Regina

Great, I didn't even notice that the path was shown when we hover the entry!

Thanks Regina for this tip !
