autoformat question

REGood evening.
This is NOT a real problem, but I would like to change this behavior.

I am typing (work) text without any particular formatting or styles applied.
There are many numbered items like:
3. ...
(1) ...
(2) ...

Here I noticed, that AFTER I typed the first line starting with "3. ..."
AND insert one tab stop BEFORE the following (1) ... and then hit ENTER at the end of the line,
the tab stop disappears and the typed text jumps to the left margin.

Since I am not supposed to apply any formatting anyway, this does not pose a problem,
but I would like to know, where I can change this behavior.
Could not find anything yet.

Thank you.
Thomas

It's not entirely clear what you are doing: are these genuine lines (separated by line breaks: Shift+Enter) or paragraphs (separated by paragraphs breaks: Enter)? But in any case, what you are seeing is almost certainly created by the automatic numbering facility available in Writer.

Two solutions:

o The changes you don't want are AutoCorrections. If you go to Edit | Undo or press Ctrl+Z *immediately you see the change*, the correction will be cancelled, leaving what you actually typed.

o If you want to disable this facility completely, remove the tick from Tools | AutoCorrect Options... | Options | Apply numbering - symbol: *.

I trust this helps.
