Browser plugin gives blank page

I have LO 3.5.2.2 running under Linux (Mandriva 2011) and Java 1.6.0.29. When
I enable the browser plugin and try to read a Chapter from the documentation
as a test, I get a blank page. I have FF 11.0. I have tried searching about
this, but cannot find anything. the document never appears within the
browser. I have to disable the browser plugin and download the document
separately into LO. Any help would be appreciated.

What was the file type? The plugin did not work for me testing .doc or .odt files. I also checked the plugin and its current date was 4/11/2012. Did you have any problems before Wednesday with the FF plugin?

Do you need to view the document within the browser?

You could add the 'load url bar' to the toolbar and copy the url into
LO; this would allow you to view documents directly from the web
server without downloading a local copy to your local disk.

Similarly, using opera, you could configure the web browser to open
the document using LO by passing the url of the document directly to
LO, again avoiding download of a copy to your local disk. Not sure if
this is possible using firefox.

Same results here too; I get a blank page. I am running LO 3.5.2.2 under Mageia Linux and Java 1.7.0_03 on FF 9.0.1.

Is the problem with the plugin?

I think we would need more people to confirm, but, yes, I would say it's with the plugin seeing as everything else on my browser works without any problems.

Marc, I have not kept up with this thread.

If you mean "opening" a .odt file from an online source in Firefox, [instead of saving to the disk] like it use to do a few months back, I remember the last 2 or 3 times with Firefox 10 and 11, I got a blank page myself.

This was Ubuntu 10.04's FF repository versions. I do remember it use to work fine, but not since the repository went from 3 or 4 straight to 10 and then 11 a week later.

I also was running 3.4.5 then, but now 3.4.6. I wonder if there is a browser issue and not the LO issue.

Then, if this is the case, it should be reviewed by the LibreOffice devs to see if they could make it work again with the newer versions of FF as this is an integrated plugin in LibreOffice and not an add-on.

I have to say this is a useful plugin and I hope it is made to work again.

It was reported as a bug in Dec 2011 here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44232

Hi
My Gnu&Linux repos give me a
mozilla-OpenOffice
plugin but the repos are set-up so that i would have to install OOo to be able to use it.  I think it should be grabbed, modified for LO and put on LO's Extensions website
Regards from
Tom

Sorry I did not reply sooner. I have been away. thanks to everyone for
responding.
I have had problems with the plugin for a while. I stopped using it at one
point (forget which version of LO) when the ability to enable it disappeared
as a choice within the options. Once I upgraded and the choice was
available, it never worked; always a blank page. This has been the case
through FF 9, 10, and now 11. I will check over at mozilla to see if anyone
thinks the browser may be an issue.
Thanks everyone.
