Bullet points and square brackets

Has anyone ever seen this:
Copy unformatted text from another odt doc into a table in another doc.Highlight the textAdd bullet pointsBullet point appear but the first line of text has a [ in front of it

No

  * Highlight text in doc1 and CTRL-C
  * Paste text into a table in doc2 with CTRL-V
  * Highlight text in doc2
  * click on bullets on toolbar
  * bullet appears...no "[" though

Fedora 19 with LO 4.1.1.2
