Business cards

Just enquiring, can one instead of writing 4 business cards on one page,
(where they are all the same), creating each one differently but on the
same page?

You can use File > New > Label. That wizard has the ability to insert fields from a database. You can look through the list, whether a predefined size and layout exists, but it is likely, that you need to define your own card size and page layout manually. Don't worry, it is easy to do.

Another possibility, if you are using linux, is glabels. I use it for spice jar labels and have many different labels on one sheet.

For something like this, I tend to use a business card template. Places like Avery.com, who sell the card stock, tend to have the templates for the products they sell.

Using a template, you can fill in all 10 card locations with whatever you like.

For me this is the easiest way to do what you want.

Here is the link to Avery's blank business card templates in Word format. They buried where you find the templates, since I last look for them.

It would be a wonderful thing if the label print function was the same as GLabel <Print control (Merge)> function.

No more trashing a half filled page of labels because of inability to control "first label" position.

See 3.9.1 on the URL below for how GLabel did it.
https://help.gnome.org/users/glabels/2.2/glabels-usage.html.en#glabels-open-file

This function was also available from Lotus Organizer in its earliest version.
In their version you could also select from "Across then down" or "Down then across" to count off the start position.

Just hoping.

I still say, try using a business card template, like you can get for free at Avery.com [with some searching]. I use the template method for my business card paper stock, either for the same card info or every card on the sheet being different. Just a few days ago I created a "message card", out of business card stock, using the Avery template that fits my card stock. It was fast and easy. Since I have many different label and card stock sheets, I have a collection of templates that match the specific card/label sheets without needing to remember margins and other specifics.
