Cannot delete horizontal red line

Hi all:

I managed to add an horizontal red line to my document's footer that I cannot delete anymore. I just cannot select it with the mouse.

Please find attached the document. I stripped all contents down to a couple of text lines.

Could that be a bug in LibreOffice? I am using the latest version 5.0.4.2.

Thanks,

Attached files are generally removed by the mailing list processor before messages are distributed, so no-one will have been able to see your document.

One possibility is that you have added a top or bottom border to a paragraph. This will remain even if you remove the text of the paragraph.
o Put the cursor in the preceding or following paragraph.
o Go to right-click | Paragraph... or right-click | Edit Paragraph Style... . (The problem could be in either place.)
o On the Borders tab, adjust "Line arrangement" to show no borders.

Could that be a bug in LibreOffice?

Possibly not.

I trust this helps.

OK, thanks. It is a shame that I cannot send even a tiny example document. I am attaching it again, so that at least you get it.

I drew the line manually using Insert, Shapes, Line.

I double-checked anyway, and all places I could find following your instructions are set to "Set no borders".

Not unheard of. :sunglasses: In fact, when closing Writer, both on Linux and Windows, I often get a "LibreOffice Document Recovery" dialog. "Due to an unexpected error, LibreOffice crashed.". "The following files will be recovered", and then an empty list of files. If then leaves the lock file ".~lock.CannotSelectRedLine.odt#" behind. If happens if I change the document and then undo the changes and don't save it to disk, then close LibreOffice Writer.

This is a very small document, on a rather clean Ubuntu 14.04.3, and a Windows 7 PC. All other software is pretty stable.

But the problem with the red line is what bothers me most at this point in time.

That's been happening to me ever since I moved to 5 (5.0.4.2 to be precise). Using Mint 17. Never an issue with 4.whatever-it-was.

I use Writer, save and exit, and am occasionally immediately greeted by the recovery dialogue followed (IIRC) by the generic LO startup window. Anyone else noticed this? It's not repeatable to order, and is quite unpredictable.
