Can't save new files in LO 3.4.4

Starting today 1/12/12 cannot save new files created in LibreOffice. Can
re-save existing files. Have been using v3.4.4 since it came out. Am running
Vista x64. Have re-downloaded and re-installed LO twice. The second time I
used the "repair" option. No help. This is my first posting and I really
need an answer to this because I can't proceed with LO without help.

Have you tried re-naming your user-profile?

Can you check to see how much space you have on your hard-drive?  Have you emptied your wastebin and the one in your emailing system?

You need to be more specific...

What *happens* when you try to save a new file? Do you get an error? If so, what is it (the full error message)?

General Error.
General Input/Output error.

Machine is working flawlessly. All other progs also working well. Have 450g
space and no clutter. The actual error msg is:

Error saving the document Untitled1:
General Error.
General input/output error.

Hi :slight_smile:
We all get the message when you send to the list. Is it trying to save to a
special systems-folder rather than to your "My Documents" or desktop? Can
you force it to save to your MyDocs? The whole thing is sounding strange
because it really shouldn't be doing that.

Perhaps try renaming your UserProfile?

That is often a "magic cure-all" and does what most people think a reinstall
does, ie restores all settings to "factory defaults"

Ok, now, *where* are you trying to save it *to*?

Am saving the file to "Documents". Have not modified LO in any way.

OK. This is weird. Logged in as admin, ran Ccleaner and Defraggler and now it
works fine again. Thanks for your assistance. Oh, tested both as admin login
and logged in as myself (the original problem) and it was fine both times.

I had silimar problem after remove backup folder from my LO-profile.

For test change name of your LO-profile folder and try again.
     mv ~/.libreoffice ~/.libreoffice_old
