Changing key board shortcuts in Mac LO Calc

Hi.

In LO 5.x the Calc keyboard shortcut to change between open documents followed the Mac UI standards. That means that when you use the keyboard shortcut [ ~ + CMD ] (tilde + command or Apple key) you switch between open documents.

In LO 6.x Calc the [~+CMD] shortcut now shows the cell formulas rather than switching between open docs. This shortcut still works properly in Writer and Impress.

I has posted a bug but I want to manually change the ~+CMD in Calc back to the normal behaviour.

I can't figure out how to do this.
1) I can't find what ~+CMD is doing in the keyboard shortcuts in Calc.
2) I don't know what the command for switch between open documents is called in order to look it up in the list.

Can someone let me know where I can find this in the documents or give me some help so I fix this?

The non-standard keyboard shortcut in one of the applications is driving me crazy.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Can someone let me know where I can find this in the documents or give
me some help so I fix this?

My unedcuated guess is that it has been hardcoded by some "well
intentioned" UI-developer who failed to appreciate the requirements of
OSX yet again (and in particular, the different keyboards that Apple
produces and sells with its computers).

Difficult to lay the blame in such a case as most of the testers and
developers use Linux, and I imagine very few have an Apple Mac with a
full Apple keyboard à la Magic Keyboard with numerical keys. My own Mac
environment uses the small Magic Keyboard with my Macmini or else the
integrated keyboard on my MBPro and both are AZERTY.

The non-standard keyboard shortcut in one of the applications is driving
me crazy.

Snap. Fiddling with the UI to "make it better" (for whom, certainly not
those on macOS) is one of my major bugbears. I've given up.

Thank you for the clarifications Alex.

I've posted a bug report but I get the distinct feeling it isn't being seen as an issue. :frowning:

I understand that it is probably hard coded somewhere but is there any way to fix this using the Customize:Keyboard and override the incorrect View:Show Formula (~+CMD) with "switch between open documents" (or whatever the hell its called)?

This is frustrating enough to have me hound someone. I've been trying to get to a point of removing the M$ applications but these stupid little non-standard UI things really frustrate me and keep the M$ stuff installed so I can work properly.

I never thought I'd say this but the Mac version of Office 2010 was very good and worked like Mac programs should (although a bit stripped of functionality compared to the Win version). LO has been much better at keeping all functionality similar across platforms but these UI problems really slow down the workflow. I only wish LO would get the UI shit in order!

US users switch with cmd + ~ but other keyboard layouts doesn't provide easy access to the tilde and use different shortcuts by default [1]. So whatever we do some users will not be happy with the solution. Cannot say at the moment what exactly caused the change but you should definitely write a bug report. Also skim over the discussion at [2].

Thank you for this, Heiko. I had no idea that it was so complicated.

I see from the stackexchange hint that the switch between windows of the same app is supposed to be CMD+'. This is found in the System Keyboard shortcuts.

I've tested it and it doesn't work in any app that I use. :frowning: Each one tested uses CMD+~

In the end, I can learn something new but I really would like it to be consistent across LO. Right now Impress & Writer use CMD+~ but with Calc I can only switch between open windows by using the menu. That really screws up the workflow.

I have logged a bug.
