Chapter and footnotes enumeration issues in LO Writer 7.0 and 7.0.3.1 beta

Hi there.

I wonder if this behavior of Writer 7.x is expected or rather a bug. I was working on a book document with about 650 pages and hundreds of footnotes and a 6 pages long table of contents, using normal chapter enumerations.

After I switched to LO 7.x, the document now "forgets" all paragraph styles assigned in "Tools > Chapter Numbering > Numbering > Paragraph style". Furthermore, all footnotes and footnote references show the number 0. I can adjust these issues and re-save the document, but each time I relaunch LO Writer and load the document, these enumeration styles are lost again.

Do you know a workaround? Is this a known bug? If not, should I report it in Bugzilla?

Best, Ulf

Self-reply:
I deinstalled LO 7.x and returned to LO 6.4.7.2 but that didn't help. The
issues (forgotten heading styles and footnote enumeration) seem to stick
inside the document.

What seemed to help was creating a new document and copying the whole
content of my 650 pages book into that new document. After adjusting some
applied paragraph styles, everything seems to work fine again. Saving the
new document, quitting and relaunching LO brought the new document back as
expected.

What else could I have done to fix this issue?

To confirm your issue, was this document with the problem ever a different
format?
That is, did it begin as a MS Word that you opened in LO and then saved?

Each time you save the document, are you saving it as ODT format or another
format?

The relevant document was originally created in MS Word. I converted it into
a LO .odt and used to continue working on that document in .odt format.
After the issues occured, I saved it as .fodt and .rtf and it seems as if
the RTF conversion get rid of the inherited MS .doc issues.
