Crash when trying to open a program from the LO site

I found a general ledger base program on the LO web site. Whenever I try to open it per the instructions (double click on start), LO closes immediately, no error message. When I reopen, the base program is 'fixed'. I tried turning on macros, and finally ( tried to open, to view the code, of the start program, all crash immediately.

Help?
