Hi Sonic,

I would think you could register the new database in the spreadsheet by going to tool>options>LibreOffice Base>Databases. I've never tried that though. I know it works for odb files.

Hi
It 'should' be reasonably easy to update, delete or add new records to an address book using Base.  Is it possible to use a different connector to your data?
Regards from
Tom

Once you have registered in Base as spredsheet, you can do the modifications directly in the spreadsheet without using base.
Only the registration in base is needed.

Maybe this extension (FastMailMerge)is what you need:

Have you tried with LibreOffice 3.5RC2 ? There were known issues on some
OSes with previous 3.4.x versions.

Alex

hi alex,
I had try libreoffice 3.5RC2 but problem same.. in linux version,
but i tested 3.5RC2 windows version it solve the problem....
do u have any ideal on linux version ?

anyone can help pls

Have you with the stock 3.5RC2? No, I'm not being factitious or
disrespectful... but you keep claiming that this all works with your own
build from Master & I'd appreciate an answer.

It's a problem that I doubt will be solved anytime soon.

Your best bet is to simply use a Calc spreadsheet, open that with the
MailMerge Wizard, and go from there. With that you neither need Base or
Java.

HI NoOp
BRO,
YES go to FILE wizard-> address data source ->this connection to external
data source could not be establish.NO SDBC Driver was found for the given
url.
NO SDBC DRIVER FOUND FOR LIBRE OFFICE 3.5RC2 linux version
or LIBRE OFFICE 3.4.5 as well linux version.

HOwever only Libreoffice 3.5RC2 Windows version can function for data
source.

Else have any alternative ways using librebase only to do mail merge
regards,
sonic

It even works for me with :
LibreOffice 3.4.5
OOO340m1 (Build:502)

Provided by Ubuntu from the Oneiric repositories.

I clicked on Other external data source, then Parameters, and chose Spreadsheet. It appears to work fine, as in I can thereafter press F4, select a tuple from the table, copy it into a Writer document, the merge data wizard starts up, and I can choose how I want the data merged.

Alex

ALex,
hi are you refering to windows version or linux if windows version yes it's
working, but i'm using linux version is not working ? LibreOffice 3.4.5
OOO340m1 (Build:502)

No problem, I didn't feel you were complaining, we just need to try and get to the bottom of the problem.

This is impossible. Mail merge reads data from a registered Base file regardless of any file formats.
For various reasons, spreadsheets are by far the worst choice for list keeping. A most simple dBase file performs much better and can be edited directly in the data source window without opening nor saving any document at all.

As a matter of course, the wizard creates a Base document.

Your data are still in the spreadsheet, editable in a spreadsheet program.

Hi bro,
Do you have any alternative ways to do in libre base.. directly is there any tutorial for doing mail merge in libre base.
yes i found out already can upgrade or edit data in spreadsheet after registered the spreadsheet in base..
