I am using the Mac Snow Leopard version of LO 3.4 and I have added the CT2N
(Convert Text to Numbers) extension.
It may be me, but it does not appear to work.
It worked in LO3.3.2
Has anyone else tried it?
Tink.

Hi
It seems that none of the OpenOffice Extensions are available now? Can anyone
confirm or better still, suggest where to get extensions from now?
Regards from
Tom
The extension service servers are working... kind of.
It sometimes does not serve images or stylesheets, sometimes you get a
"connection was reset" error. But you can still reach the extensions.
I didn't try to install it yet, but here's the link to CT2N:

Hi
I had 2 failed clicks and then the 3rd time worked. Hopefully the original
poster gets lucky too

Note that, if I didn't misunderstand it, the OP already has the
extension, (s)he's reporting it doesn't work with LO 3.4:

Discussing the status of the OOo extension database is important, I
just wanted to point out this probably isn't the OP's issue.
Also, as the original message asked for confirmation from other users, I
hope now people who want to test know where to find it.
Even if the site is problematic, using the direct URL is better than
having to navigate through several pages, each of which probably won't
load on the first attempt.
Hi
Thanks, good point! It does work with 3.3.2 so i would post a bug-report about
it and then re-install the 3.3.2

Many thanks Tom.
I have replaced CT2N with a fresh download and it still does not work.
It appears as an Add On> CT2N>The menu appears.
Clicking on Whole sheet, or Selected produces a Nil result.
Have you checked this and filed a bug?
Tink.
Hi
Nope. If you could post the bug-report it would be more effective. When the
devs ask questions you are more likely to have good answers for them.

Tom
BTW. I should be able to Convert text to Numbers using the Value() function,
in which case, I would not need CT2N.
I have tried using Value several ways and all I get is either #Value, or
Error 502.

No need to file a bug.
Step in the basic-code to see what happens. Or wait for me (or someone else) to do that.
Once I find/make time, I'll update the extension.
(there are more wishes on the list...)
Kind regards,

Has to be investigated.

The site seems to go up and down.
I have a large number of the extensions on my system - stored.
If you need one and the site is down, let me know offline and I will send it to you.
[if I have it]
If you need that Extension - here is a link from the NA site.

Hi Tinkerer,
could you perhaps upload a test file of where this function is faulty?
If you don't have a preferred place already, you could try
www.2shared.com. Make sure to remove all personal or confidential
information from the file before uploading.
Have you filed a bug for it? If you have, what is the bug number?
Regards
Stephan
Hi Stephan
It appears I may be at fault here.
The Bug is: 38314
According to Libre Guide Value() requires that you type in the text to be
converted eg "123" and not "one two three", neither will a cell reference
suffice.
As for CT2N that bug remains, though I have been told I must contact the
author as it is not a Libre Bug.
It worked in LO 3.3.2, but it does not work in LO 3.4.0
That surely makes it a Libre Bug I would think.
My most abject apologies to all concerned.
Both problems CT2N and Value() require whole numbers as a quotation.
eg '2 or "3"
They then remove the quote marks.
I was trying to convert 'one and "two"
May I ask to be forgiven,
Tink.
WooooHooooo
Congrats Yes, forgiven if you have got it workingnow
At least from me.

Tom

If you can upload a test file with typical inputs, then someone (maybe
even me?) could have a look at writing a function (Calc function or
Macro) that addresses your need(s).

Stephan
Thank you Stephan
I copied and pasted the quantities in text from an article.
In the end it was quicker to print it out and just type them in, but I
thought using CT2N would guarantee the accuracy.
Do you think there would be much demand for such a function?
Best regards, Tink.
