Dictionaries

Hi all,
Would it be possible to have an extra dictionary extension
pre-distributed together with LibreOffice? The Danish project produced a
new thesaurus about 6 months ago but it has not yet been able to get it
pre-installed in OOo. It would be a real scoop for LibreOffice in
Denmark if we can get that delivered as part of the installation.

The extension is here:
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/danske_synonymer

Hi.

Would it be possible to parse this with MagicPO to ease the Norwegian
effort?

Hi Leif,

It is possible to include it here:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/libs-extern-sys/tree/dictionaries/da_DK
and have it installed along with the spellchecker and hyphenation. Is
this what you would like?

Best regards,
Andras

Yes thats exactly what I would like. Tye license is compatible. ; -)

Cheers,
Leif

Hi!

License is:
GNU GPL version 2.0
GNU LGPL version 2.1
Mozilla MPL version 1.

I can integrate it if you want. One more question is (for the staff),
will we add *.idx files, or will generate during the build with
th_gen_idx.pl
(http://svn.services.openoffice.org/ooo/branches/OOO320/dictionaries/util
/th_gen_idx.pl)

Do you have the OpenOffice.org issue number for your request of
integration in OOo?

Years ago, the Italian OpenOffice.org N-L Project had a very hard time
(endless legal reviews) for including its thesaurus in OpenOffice.org,
but I was hoping that other thesauri with compatible licensing terms,
like yours, could be integrated easily these times. Then I heard that
Oracle had blocked the new submissions (but not updates: I was able to
get an updated Italian dictionary and thesaurus in, a couple of weeks
ago), and I'm curious about this; this is why I'm asking for the issue
number.

Regards,
  Andrea Pescetti.

It is always nice to have the issue number. When we solve it (for
example the inclusion of Danish thesaurus) it can be included into the
commit message. Automatic tools generate statistics from commit
messages and the numbers of resolved issues will get into changelogs
and release notes.

Cheers,
Andras

Exactly my problem too. The issue:
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=110784

The community sponsored a developer to make the thesaurus and we can't get
it integrated in OpenOffice.org. It would be a scoop to get it integrated in
LibreOffice. This will show everybody that we can get things done

Cheers,
Leif

Hi,

Just for your information:
I managed to add our updated german dictionaries to 3.2 by
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id5565 and this is in
flow for 3.3 with
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id3456
No problems there.

-Olav.

I'n not sure. The thesaurus consist of around 100.000 words with
connections like synonyms and sub concepts. Most of the content is a
gift from Copenhagen University et al. The question is, if the words can
be translated and the synonyms and sub concepts are still correct.

The extension is open source and we don't mind if you can re-use it. I
would suggest that you investigate if there are any research project
doing the same work in Norway.

Cheers,
Leif

I see now in the issue that it is scheduled for integration in OOo (on
the next available release which is OOo 3.4). The integration in
LibreOffice had the effect to speed up things at OpenOffice.org,
perhaps!

  Andrea.
