Direct link to localized version

Hi all,

is there a possibility to bypass the language detection of system/browser
and link to the LibreOffice download page in a way so that a certain
language appears in the dropdown menu?

There is no Kurdish Windows and no Kurdish IE, but we nevertheless want to
provide a direct link to "Kurdish LibreOffice" without the need to select
the language. Is that possible?

Greetings
Erdal

Hi *,

is there a possibility to bypass the language detection of system/browser
and link to the LibreOffice download page in a way so that a certain
language appears in the dropdown menu?

Now there is: When a query parameter "lang" is present, its value
overrides the browser-language detection.

There is no Kurdish Windows and no Kurdish IE, but we nevertheless want to
provide a direct link to "Kurdish LibreOffice" without the need to select
the language. Is that possible?

Try http://www.libreoffice.org/download/?lang=ku

ciao

That would require an additional control/item in the download-page type.

I'm not sure though how exactly it should work though - should it only
override the language-detection when the browser reports English, or
should it always be forced to another language? What do you
propose/want?

(I was thinking about an entry-field "force language" or similar
within the CMS, where you would enter the locale "el" for example,
then the effect would be that whenever you visit the corresponding
downloadpage it is like you had used the ?lang=el parameter - i.e.
when using it you will never get auto-detection)

+1. I think this is exactly what we want, and it should certainly not only override English. Think of Occitan or Catalan – I think it's quite likely that the user will be using a French or Spanish browser in those cases.

Rimas

Also, on the download page there should be a warning for users that are
offered a non-English download for Windows - that online help in non-English
languages does not work (yet) and that if they want the help system in the
language of their UI choice they *must* download the additional help pack.

When online wiki help topic will open in the language of LO UI, then this
warning will be obsolete. Hopefully that will happen with 3.3.1.

I already added this warning to the Slovenian download page.

Is ok now , now is auto-detection work for lang = el without ?lang=el
Thank you .

Well - I didn't add that feature yet, but I adjusted the download
script a couple of days ago that it handlles both de as well as de_DE
as well as de-DE (initially it only cared for de and de_DE, but didn't
handle de-DE (all would need to be mapped to de - so this is probably
the reason why it works for you now.

But given the other comments, I guess there is need/request for a
override setting, so I'll add that in the next day.
