do screenshots survive?

I am aware that attachments are stripped from posts; what about embedded images?

I ask, because of the terrible mess Thunderbird/LO made of my immediately preceding post. I copied the subject list from the LO help as text, and pasted it into the email; those who have looked have seen the resulting formatting, and probably wished they had not.

I can answer my own question, by embedding a screenshot of the original list here. I should be able to see for myself whether it survives a round trip to Deutschland:

They do not, and I personally think this causes major problems when you
are trying to explain issues.

But, it is a security decision, but as long as attachments are limited
to image formats that cannot contain a hidden payload, I think the risk
is worth the benefit.

If we're talking about security issue, I'm not aware of any image format
that is absolutely 100% certain to not be able to contain any hidden code
 as long as it gets decoded, there's a (limited) risk.

But I believe this is not only a security issue; attachments takes space,
and letting them through a mailing list would multiply the bandwidth
requirement by as many subscribers the list have, while hosting the images
somewhere and putting links to them will limit the bandwidth usage to only
people actually looking for them, along with not cluttering limited
mailboxes (yes, they still exist).

If required, there are a lot of hosting sites that can be used for images,
and for convenience the nabble interface will actually do that for you I
believe.
