Error creating new document: templates already exists

If I try to create a new document using a template (this is in Windows x64)
with LO3.5, I get an error message saying "Error creating new document:
templates already exists". This didn't happen with LO3.4. I've tried
deleting the templates folder, changing the default, removing the templates
from the template folder, all to no avail.

Does anyone know how to get round this?

Thanks.

I confirm this problem with Linux Mint 12/64 using Writer. Also, I do not see any templates that are in the template folder.

I see this same issue on Win 7 Home Premium 32bit.

Try deleting/renaming the registrymodifications.xcu file in your profile.

Deleting the profile might not be enough. It looks like the profile
location changed, meaning when LO don't find it, it will migrate your
old profile, and bring back this file.

See my post here for the solution I used going back to 3.4.5

Thanks from me, too!

Thanks.
I just noticed that the profile directory changed from
~/.libreoffice/3/user
to
~/.config/libreoffice/3/user
Renaming registrymodifications.xcu solves the problem.

Thank you for that Tom. It worked.

I also get the same error message whenever I try to do anything involving a
Template. This includes opening an existing document based on a template.

I have tried altering the Tools|Options|LibreOffice|Paths|Templates settings
in every conceivable way, to no effect.

LibreOffice 3.5
Windows 7 (x64) Professional

I just tried deleting the file. It didn't work. Still getting the "templates"
message on starting LO.
