F-Droid

Went on-line to see what F-Droid is - it's supposedly a directory of
various software;
therefore why is it up to LO users to update their directory.

For this reason, I ignored the request to post this message to this
list;
but since someone did post it, I'm responding with the hope that
others will inform me as to what F-Droid is.

f-droid is free android apps. Taken from google play store and proprietary bits excised and posted in the f-droid repo.

F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository (https://f-droid.
org/). It's an installable catalog of FOSS applications for the Android
platform. These are apps outside of Google's Play Store.

Hello Anne,

F-Droid is an online Free Software application store for the Android platform
(i.e smartphones and tablets mostly). The question of the OP is perfectly
legitimate as we distribute the LibreOffice viewer for Android through
F-Droid as well.

Best,

Charles.

F-Droid only lists FLOSS that specifically requests to be included. One
of the few responsibilities of the requester, is that both app updates,
and program descriptions are kept current.

As such, it is legitimate to ask why the app has not been updated at
F-Droid.

It probably would be useful to verify that the LibO Viewer in the other
Android App Stores is also current.

others will inform me as to what F-Droid is.

It is the only Android App Store that is exclusively Open Source Software.

There's nothing on the F-Droid page for the viewer or in the submission
thread that indicate submission from the LibreOffice foundation. As far as
I can tell, it was submitted by someone at Collabora, who isn't there
anymore.

What is the current version of the Android LibreOffice Viewer? I'm certain it's nothing resembling the current version of LO on computers. How much of a link is there between the two projects?

The Android based viewer is built from current development master. A
nightly .APK spin is available here:

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Android-ARM@24-Bytemark-Hosting/

I just checked build signature and its included source comits are less than
24 hours old--suffice to say its developmenti is kept current with the rest
of the development effort.

As to what is "released" and posted to F-Droid, or the Google Play store,
that beta "release" looks to be a bit dated.

I'll poke the lead dev to ask him to comment here on that issue.
