gnumeric xml support

Readers,

The xml of the gnumeric spreadsheet format seems superior (more compact) compared to the xml of the calc module.

Are there plans to allow calc to save spreadsheets in gnumeric xml format?

I doubt it.

Gnumeric is a specialist program that doesn't have to worry about how well
it integrates with very different types of programs/apps/modules, such as
Draw or Math. As such it does have distinct advantages over Calc by being
able to focus entirely on the one thing it does do. On the other hand it's
not much good for drawing.

However it might be good to post a "Feature request" about this idea
because some devs might be interested in such an idea. The nature of
OpenSource makes such things much more possible than it would be if
Gnumeric was closed. Also it's quite handy that both programs can use the
same format, ODF (specifically .Ods) quite comfortably.
