Guides download website

Hello

We have a new website designed to make easy for the user to find our
LibreOffice Guides. I have placed all guides in English in this website
as well as translated guides from some other communities like pt-BR.

http://documentation.libreoffice.org

The website will be easily accessed with the forthcoming LibreOffice
5.3, by opening the menu Help - User Guides...

To help the NL communities I have set a wiki page explaining a bit more
about the website.

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Guides_Website

If you want to open a page for your locale, please let me know, I can
assist in setting the right page and guide file tree.

Kind regards

The product is now on the age of 5.3 but the getting started guide (on the website) is still on the age of 5.1 and the guide for Writer and Calc is still on the old 4.x age.

Since we have very limited hands on Documentation, why don't we write a single Guides to all the 5.x releases (and we call it XX Guide for LibreOffice 5.x), rather than writing each guide for each of the 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3... releases? This single Guide can be updated regularly to make it uptodate. This will save us a lot of time, and avoid confusing.

Hello Olivier!
Thank you for this!
Could you please add italian and give me assistance to setup the page?
I already log in to main website (silverstripe) with the address elcico2001(at)yahoo.it
Thank you!
Luca

What is to be the relationship between this new site for guides and the
existing one:
wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Publications/... ?

Do we need to maintain both?

Donald

Hello Luca

I have set the pages for Italian, and they are unpublished so you can
fill the contents and then publish. You may want to copy the page layout
of the English site or make one different, that's up to the Italian
community.

I also added the SVG source for the buttons images in the wiki page. You
can use Inkscape to translate to Italian.

Let me know if you need more help

Kind regards

Hello Donald

Yes we maintain both.

The new site is expected to be easier for users to get the Guides
directly from LibreOffice Help menu (Help - User Guides...), and without
having to Google about LO documentation or navigate in TDF wiki pages to
get there. We valued a clean navigation with less dense textual content.

The wiki page holds all published Guides, including ancient editions. We
want the doc website to hold the most recent publications. Anyway if
user wants an old guide he can get to the wiki page from our doc website
("Older guides").

We expect to add value to the Guides written (and translated) by the
community, and also advertise to join the documentation team.

What is your feeling when hundreds of thousands or perhaps millions of
users click in the new help menu and visit our new doc website?

Kind regards

Thank you!
I've found the pages.
I will prepare them as soon as possible.

Please setup the pages for Simplified Chinese (zh-CN). Thanks.

Hello Kevin
I have set the pages for simplified Chinese.

I also put you as editor for the pages, so you can login in

http://documentation.libreoffice.org/admin

With the same username and password of the main libreoffice website in
SilverStripe.

You can put the pages in zh/ tree in chinese.

If you want the entry page to look the same as the English one, please
send me the contents of the buttons, and I'll build the table with them.

Olivier

Hello Olivier,

Would you mind setting up a page for the Dutch User Guides, as we have quite some recent documentation available. Could you shortly explain how we can upload our docs?

Many thanks
