Greetings,
I do not know how to set the setting to [None] permanently. However,
you can go in the options (Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice Writer ->
AutoCaption) and set the category of the caption there. If you activate
the setting, whenever you insert an image, LO Writer will automatically
insert a frame and a caption with your image, but with the category you
want (in this case, it would be [None]). You can then click inside the
frame to enter the caption you want; note that in my version, the frame
is automatically selected after the insertion so I have to click
somewhere to unselect the frame and then I can click into the frame to
edit the caption.
I hope this helps.

Hi all,

Category"
defaults to "Illustration" which, for my purposes, has to be reset to

a
real productivity killer for my current needs.

globally or on a per document basis?
TIA
