Hyperlink Not Underscored

Hyperlink Not Underscored

I am a novice when it comes to computers.

Earlier today, I was encountered with two strange behaviors in LibreOffice
Writer.

(1) In the footer of the page, I had page number and date, in the template.
But when I clicked the template, there was no page number (and no date) in
the footer.

(2) Whenever I typed an internet address, there was no underscore:
http://www.libreoffice.org. The underscore does not appear even now.

As to #1 problem, I went to Google, and typed something like "LibreOffice
Writer: Page number in footer not shown".

The solution was: View --> Field Names

and the page number and date appeared.

But I could not find how to solve the #2 problem.

I would like any help.

My Computer: Toshiba Laptop
Model: Satellite L55-B
Part #: TSK4U-07T00G
Hard Drive: 1 TB
Monitor: 15.6"
RAM: 8 GB
OS: Windows 8.1
LibreOffice: 4.4.0.3

Hi
When you type an internet address and then put a full stop after it that
full-stop sometimes gets included in the address so that people clicking on
your link then go to the wrong place, usually an empty page such as "404
Page not found"

The underlining usually happens after you type a couple of spaces or after
you press enter.

It could easily be something else though

You can toggle between the display of filed name and their values.

You can easily underline any text by selecting it and using right-click | Style > | Underline (or in various other ways). But perhaps you mean more than that?

o If you want URLs to be automatically detected and converted to hyperlinks, you need to have the option(s) ticked at Tools | AutoCorrect Options... | Options | URL Recognition.

o If you are finding hyperlinks are not appearing in the correct colour and with the correct style, you can modify the appropriate styles at Format | Styles and Formatting. Click on the Character Styles button and right-click the relevant style and select Modify...

Font Effects. The relevant styles are Internet Link and Visited

Internet Link.

You do realise that automatic detection will not occur until you follow the URL with a space or line break or paragraph break (or similar?)?

I trust this helps.

Dear Brian,

Thank you for suggestions.

"If you want URLs to be automatically detected and converted to hyperlinks,

Options | URL Recognition."

That answers my question. Problem solved. Thank you.
