I tried to credit card donate on website. But after I place order, it takes me to fishing website

It brings up this when I submit donation. Never heard of such crap. I am not
going to fill it in. Don't know if donation went thru.

You could be losing money. Maybe you should also accept Amex.

Hi
Actually i'm sure i recognise the user-name there. Haven't you
donated your time on this mailing-list in the past to help users solve
their problems. If you buy one of the published guides from the Lulu
bookstore then quite a lot of that money goes to the community and
looks quite smart on a book-shelf or for lending out.

Hi
Also you don'ty need to make a donation that way. You can download
without donating. There are other ways to donate to the community or
you could go back to that page another day after you have used
LibreOffice for a while.

I get that type of screen sometimes when I buy items from an online store. I do not like to fill those info boxes. So I do not use my debit card and use my PayPal account instead of the card, for those sites that those types of info screens pop up.

It is not that I am "afraid" of giving out more info, but I just do not like to deal with that extra step. Yes, it was created to help protect your transactions, but sometimes I wonder if a SPAM "coder" could hack into one of the stores and create their own pop-up card info, then use your card for something else. So only fill out this screen for MAJOR online stores that you feel secure enough to do so.

Since PayPal is a better way for online transactions, safer for me and will help get my money back from orders that are not delivered, I tend to use it for most sites. Amazon.com does not use PayPal for some reason, but it is one of the few exceptions to my PayPal use rule.

LibreOffice uses PayPal as one of the payment options, so I use that when I donate money to "the cause".

Hello Kracked_P_P---webmaster,

into one of the stores and create their own pop-up card info, then use
your card for something else. So only fill out this screen for MAJOR
online stores that you feel secure enough to do so.

Those sites that ask you to enter/create security details aren't hosted
by the vendor you're trying to purchase an item from. Rather, they are
hosted by one of the credit agencies, such as SagePay, WorldPay, etc.
Once you've set up security details with SagePay (for example) that's
it, job done. After that, you don't _usually_ have to enter a password,
or subset thereof when encountering the same payment system.

Of course, it's entirely your choice how you wish to limit your online
footprint.

I did the fill in once, like my bank told me I could, but that did not stop the pop-up of needing to fill it in again and again for other orders. So I decided that I was not going to fill those pop-up screens anymore.

I use a Credit Union instead of a "normal bank", since it is a better option for me. I have had an account with them since I worked at a local hospital, part time, almost 30 years ago. I wrote enough checks where I hit the largest check number offered for regular checking accounts and was required to go back from 5999 to 200 again for a check number.

Actually since I use a debit card, and they have different "rules" than a credit card has for getting back money from fraud, the PayPal account I set up to one of my bank accounts is a safer way, or at least easier way, to get any fraud purchase money back.
