Does 'select all' then choosing the options you prefer not work?
I would look to set and save all the styles you want in one document
then save that as a template.
If you import any text (Via Edit > Paste or Insert > Document) then
highlight that text and clear formatting (from the styles drop down)
before applying a style to it.

_never_ adjust the formatting in the documents. Always adjust the
formatting in the template. This is because adjusting formatting in the
document decouples it from the source template, even though the document
will continue to list the source template.
At present, I change this in the .ott file, then have to go through
all the individual documents reloading the styles from this file.
If you install Template-Changer, then you can recouple the document to
either the original, or a different template.
Note: this extension requires Java to be installed.
Version 1.2.6, obtainable from the LibO extension repository does not
