Libre Writer - back to single page

Hi Folks,

I looked at these 2 pages but neither had a jpg of where I can see the
three icons on the status bar.

https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Status_Bar
https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/22852/how-can-i-configure-the-status-bar/

Can someone please please share a graphic of that place on the status bar?

In my LW, I see the bar with Default, the bar above that with a floppy
icon and a bar above that with File|Edit\View.

Do I need to activate under Toolbars - the status bar?

I receive the digest of message from this group after midnight so
could you please email me privately as well if you post?

Thanks so much.

Best,

Charles.

Charles,

Might be easiest to reset your user profile to get back to default
configuration.

Otherwise, these steps...

1. Open a Writer document.
2. On main menu, be sure View -> Status bar is checked active
3. Status bar then runs across bottom of the Application frame holding
LibreOffice
4. on the lower right is a Zoom level button
5. to left of that is a Zoom slider
6. to left of that are the three view modes--select one
Single-page view
Multi-page view
Book view

Default is Single-page view, select that and should get you back to work.

Charles,

If you have a scroll mouse, on insert of the image still selected--i.e. the
8 green handles are visible--hold down the <ctrl> key and scroll the mouse
wheel. The zoom will follow (loosely) where the mouse pointer is located.

With out the image selected, the <Ctrl> and scroll will follow the edit
cursor position, so likely on left margin.

But, please post these use questions to the User group ML.

The Status Bar certainly needs to be toggled on for you to see it at all, of course.

Have you downloaded the LibreOffice documentation - from
http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/ ? Use "Download User Guide (PDF)" to obtain the Getting Started Guide for version 5. The Status Bar is described on pages 24 and 25 of Chapter 1: Introducing LibreOffice. You can find this easily by searching for "status", of course. And yes: there is a labelled picture to help.

Here's another trick:
o Go to Tools | Options... | LibreOffice | General | Help and ensure that Tips and "Extended tips" are both ticked.
o Now hover your mouse pointer over parts of the Status Bar and wait for extended tips to appear, describing the function of each part.

I trust this helps.

I don't think it does: it moves the graphic towards the right side of the window, not of the page. The Zoom slider changes the view of the document but not any of its contents. If you increase the zoom factor, the inserted graphic will appear to increase in size, but that is only because you have magnified the entire page. The graphic is unchanged in size or position on the (printed) page - a fact that you can quickly confirm by going to File | Page Preview (or clicking the Page Preview button in the Standard toolbar). It moves to the right of the LibreOffice window because by increasing the zoom factor you have enlarged the page display so that it now spills off the right side of the window.

To change the size of an inserted graphic:
o Click the graphic to select it - so that you see the eight coloured handles.
o Drag any of the handles to change the size. To retain the original aspect ratio, hold down Shift before releasing the mouse button.

Alternatively:
o Right-click the graphic and go to Picture... | Type.
o Tick "Keep ratio" if desired.
o Adjust the available options - in particular Width and Height under Size.

This is all described under "Resizing an image" on pages 259 and 260 of Chapter 8: Working with Images of the Writer Guide (for version 4.2), available from
http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/ .

I trust this helps.
