LibreLogo help strings

Hi

I found LibreLogo help strings inside swriter.po in the root folder of
pt-BR help. I undestood LibreLogo is an extension.

I beg to take LibreLogo help strings into a separated file, so that I
can focus on the office suite stuffs for LO 4.0. I am affraid that if I
leave the LibreLogo strings as fuzzy or untranslated, it will merge
english strings inside and I will not be able to come back later in a
easy way.

Is this possible?

It is possible to move it into a separate po file. Should I do that?

Yes please. Is it going to be an option at install time?

OK, I'll separate it today. I'll migrate translations in Pootle, so
nobody will loose his/her work.
LibreLogo is not optional. It is a small Python script (1400 lines)
and a toolbar. It does not have any other dependency, than Python,
which built-in anyway. The toolbar is hidden by default.

LibreLogo is a little hard to translate (at least for me).

I'm still trying the learn the concept. The file in UI is the toolbar
right?

For instance if I translate forward|fd in aaaaa|aa what will appear in
document? the english word or aaaaa|aa?

And the penxxx - is it related to pencil? I think so when looking at help
fle.

In help I've found

FOR i IN [1, 5, 7, 9, 11] [ FORWARD i LEFT 90 ]

Are these correct? Should't this be:

FOR i IN [1, 5, 7, 9, 11] [ FORWARD i LEFT 90 ]

Yes, same here. I'm waiting for a test build so I can try LibreLogo. I've translated some of the more obvious ones but most of them don't make any sense unless you know what LibreLogo is and does. At least not without additional info.

While we're on strange strings.. what do these mean, anyone know?

- "StartBuddySession" (and can there be spaces i.e. Start Buddy Session or is camel case obligatory?)
- "Be" (in wizards/source/template.po)
- "Uppercase commands, also translate them to the language of the document" - whothewhichwhatwhy? (in officecfg/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office.po)
- "Exchange" is that as in Microsoft Exchange or something else? (in officecfg/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office.po)

I don't know. Eike?

It is a color combination, maybe inspired by BeOS. I don't know, you
can give any name to it.

You can write LibreLogo commands in lowercase, too. This button
translates them to upper case. Also, if LibreLogo commands exist in
the language of the document, they will be translated to that
language. I'll write a detailed post about LibreLogo localization,
although Laszlo Nemeth wrote one on the other day and sent it to this
list.

No idea, maybe a placeholder.

I think it is the Exchange screens feature in Presenter Console, you
can "Exchange" the screens of the laptop and the projector.

Download the extension
Install it
Start writer document
Make sure the LibreLogo tool bar is visible
With the buttons you can move the 'pointer' on your document – it will make a drawing. Simple.

But... you can also type a simple command in de toolbar
circle 100
(and then confirm with [enter])

You can also use the command field to change style of line and color
PENCOLOR "MAROON"
And make combinations in one command
FILLCOLOR "PINK" circle 175

examples:
repeat 500 [ circle 10 + repcount/10 fd 5 + repcount/10 lt 10 ]
repeat 10 [ circle 10 + repcount/10 fd 5 + repcount/10 lt 10 ]
repeat 100 [ circle 10 + repcount/10 fd 5 + repcount/10 lt 10 FILLCOLOR [1 + repcount/10] ]
repeat 200 [ circle 10 + repcount/10 fd 5 + repcount/10 lt 10 FILLCOLOR any ]

It becomes even more interesting when you can simply type your commands in the document
To do so make two pages in the writer document (Ctrl-Enter), set the zoom so that both pages are visible, and type (paste) the commands on the second page
Then click the Start-button

repeat 36 [
  forward 5 left 90
  forward 5 right 90
  forward 5 left 100
]

Ok this raises a question in relation to Andras post - how can I tell which (apart from obvious long, verbose sentences) which are commands (and in my case not to be translated) and which are ... not commands?

I think it would be good, if not necessary for a lot of the smaller locales which are unlikely to have "national logo standards" to somehow mark the commands, perhaps in a different colour or bold or something? Otherwise we'll either get a lot of broken translations or people who leave it all in English

In help all commands are written upper case. You can't miss them. You
can freely translate the names of user defined functions and
variables.

The commands are defined in librelogo/source/pythonpath.po. There are
a few error messages there that you may want to translate, you'll
recognize them for their identifier, ERROR or ERR_ are there.

The referred page contains the first test version of the LibreLogo help,

The po format is a little bit modified and fixed (eg. non-breaking spaces
removed by András Tímár to avoid the compilation problems of the copied
Logo examples).

A short, but useful introduction with images:

Named parameters of the “penjoint” command, eg. “miter”, “round”, “bevel”
has already translated in LibreOffice
as “mitered”, “rounded”, “beveled” line corners.
