LibreOffice 3.4.4 bug report - tools/customise/keyboard

Hi there,

I need to delete all keyboard shortcuts involving control + alt + character
combinations in order to remove conflicts with my customised keyboard but
version 3.4.4 does not save my changes when I press OK, it just reverts to
the default assignments. I've tried repairing my installation but it makes
no difference.

Did version 3.3 have the same bug? If not, I'll install this earlier
version.

Kind Regards,

Neil

Never had problems with that.
Did you choose the button Modify before hitting OK

Cheers,

Hi Cor,

Thanks for your reply.
The 3.4.4 dialog box contains a delete button as well as a modify button.
Surely all I need to do is hit the delete button followed by ok. All hitting
modify does is assign the currently highlighted shortcut key to the function
highlighted below. Anyway, I'm hitting delete then ok, but no joy, my
deletions won't stick. Must be a bug, surely?

Cheers,
Neil

Oh, I really have to apologize, since I did not read your initial post well enough. My answer was meant for changing/assigning to Ctr-Alt- keys. Sorry.

I tried to delete one of the few assignments, Cltr-Alt-C, in the 3.5.0 beta, and for me it indeed does delete, and still is gone after re-start.
So strange that it does not work for you.
Are you able to assign new key combinations, and do those remain?

Regards,
Cor

Hi Cor,

Thanks very much for your help on this.

I've taken a quick look at the bugzilla history of similar bugs and there
does seem to be a number of unresolved reports on pre-3.4.4 versions, from
which a theme appears to emerge of modifications or deletions of DEFAULT key
assignments being non-persistent, as is my experience with 3.4.4.

I downloaded the 3.5 beta, opened Writer, deleted the default C and V key
assignments on Ctrl+Alt and Ctrl+Alt+Shft respectively (in 3.4.4 there is
also the F key assignment on Ctrl+Alt under LibreOffice - very persistent!)
and, sure enough, as you say, the deletions stick!

I've copied Pedro into this - hi Pedro, does this mean that this bug has now
been fixed and should not affect stable 3.5 releases?

Kind Regards,
Neil

Ah, just tested with 3.4.5. rc2.
And indeed: the deletion is not persistent there!

Looks promising.
Might even be worth to ask the devs if it is known where the bug is fixed, so that it might be included in 3.4.6 ...

I apologize but I don't remember being involved on this topic

In any case I can confirm that deleting Ctrl+Alt+C under LO 3.5.0Beta2 is
saved but not under 3.4.5RC2

So this does seem to be fixed in the 3.5.x branch

Hi Cor/Pedro,

Pedro, apologies, I decided to copy you in having read your post re 'latest
version?', many thanks for responding.

I've tested this issue in 3.4.4 Calc and Impress too and it seems that the
global shortcut Ctrl+Alt+F (find and replace) is stubbornly persistent in
all, Calc only deletions of default shortcuts persist, but Impress only
deletions do not. How do I contact the developers to ask if they've
addressed this issue for 3.5?

Kind Regards,
Neil

The best way to get Developer's attention is by creating a detailed Bug
report at
https://bugs.freedesktop.org

Even if this doesn't affect the upcoming version 3.5 it should be fixed for
the 3.4.6 release or hopefully "cherry picked" to be included in 3.4.5
(which is currently in Release Candidate 2)

Pedro, thanks for that, much appreciated. I'll file a bug report.

Neil

Hi
This guide might help draw up a good bug-report
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport

Don't worry about being too perfect. If there is info you can't supply at
first you can always add a comment later. It's generic guidance so not all
of it is relevant to every case.

I you did not submit a report yet, it might be worth to mail to the dev-list, and ask if one of the devs recognises the situation/fix in 3.5-code, so that it possibly also can be added to 3.4.x .
Of course it would be appreciated if you look at BugZilla first, if there is an existing report (might well be, because the problem is fixed), so that you can refer to that issue.

Note: in general requests about issues/fixing are not on the right place at the dev-list. But in this case, with the goal to ensure that an existing fix might be added to the 3.4 line too, I think it is OK...

Cheers,
