LibreOffice Won't Remember Printer Settings

I am running LibO 3.3.3 in Ubuntu 11.04

In all parts of LibO (Calc, Draw etc) I am unable to set Printer Settings
for a document & have those settings remembered for subsequent prints.

To be more precise:
1. In LibO > File > Printer Settings > Properties: Printer Settings can be
altered OK, do stay at last setting as long as document is open, do stay at
latest-saved setting when document is re-opened, and seem to have absolutely
no effect at all on printing!

2. In LibO > File > Print > General > Properties: Settings do work for
whatever I print next (as expected), but then revert to default state for
the next Print.

So I think the problem is that entries in File > Printer Settings >
Properties are not being picked up by the printing system.

Further info:
I have OpenOffice 3.2.0 in Ubuntu 10.04 on the same PC & that works as you
would expect:
Entries in File > Printer Settings > Properties are retained & used for all
subsequent printing of that document.

I already raised this question on an OOo forum, with no success:
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=101&t=43438

I found a similar-looking bug report:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33639

Thanks for any help!

Isn't there Tools > Options > Load/save < General ... with the choice to load printer settings with the document.
Shouldn't that do what you want?

Regards,

Thanks for your comment.

Yes, in Tools > Options > Load/Save > General, I have always had both the
first 2 items checked:
- Load user-specific settings with the document.
- Load printer settings with the document.
But it still does not work.

How about Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> General; under Document Status check Printing set "document modified" status? That may force a save of any changes you made for printing that particular document, I'm not 100% sure of that but it maybe worth a try.

Thanks very much for that suggestion, but that does not work either.

I think the key thing is that when I make a change in File > Printer
Settings > Properties, then that change does not appear in File > Print >
General > Properties, immediately afterwards.

Surely it should?

This Bug had been fixed in LibO 3.4.
I suggest an update.

Thanks, Stefan, for that good news!
I look forward to getting that update via Ubuntu & I will confirm if it
really works for me...

Following your message, I spent some time looking through the Wiki at
release notes, but couldn't see any fix that sounded like what I am looking
for.

Can anybody point me to the exact bug & fix?

Thanks!

What I find with
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/query.cgi

is https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33245
but that one is not yet fixed...
So I wonder which one Stefan refers to..

Cheers,

Hmmm...

Bugs 33861 / 36591 / 37064 all seem to report the problem I have, but have
all been marked (eliminated) as duplicates of 33245, which does not sound
quite the same & does not solve the general problem & is not yet
implemented?
Or did I not get that right?

Actually, I have not found a list of fixed bugs yet...
Thanks for any pointer!

Before your reply, I submitted my own Bug report on this:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42657

So I suppose that will be called a duplicate too.

In my understanding too, it is a separate issue.
(But did not take a real good look at it, sorry)

Just query for Status Fixed or Resolved.

Best,

Thanks - & sorry I did not find that myself!

I went through the list of Resolved bugs with "print" & didn't find anything
relevant.

So I added the following comment to my new bug report #42657.

/"I'm sorry I didn't find the following information sooner, but anyway:

It looks like this bug report is pretty much similar to several previous
ones - 33861 / 36591 / 37064.
All those have been classed as Duplicates of 33245, which is not really the
same problem...

The latest comment on 33245 is dated 25/5/2011 & says it does not fix the
problem in 33861 / 36591 / 37064 & now 42657.

Can I please ask that this problem be re-opened & not swept under the carpet
with 33245?

Thanks!!"/
