Locale Data

Not entirely sure if this is a general development question or l10n. Is there a way of extracting (or even better, making public) the following:
a) usage data of LO instances in a locale (akin to what Mozilla provide via their blacklist data)
b) download data for a specific locale
c) download/usage data for an extension?

c) existed on the OO extension site and was a useful measure of uptake. a) should be possible since installed spellcheckers must communicate with the extension site to update.

Part of the reason for asking is that we know uptake is low for locales like Gaelic and Irish but also, we're about to try different means of promoting them and would like to be able to get some data that allows us to say "here's where we were, on this date we did X and suddenly Y shot up".

Cheers,

Michael

AFAIK, the dictionaries don't communicate anymore with the extension site
for updates (since 3.4?). Therefore dictionary updates are only feasible by
packaging changed dictionaries into a new release.

Whose bright idea was that, if that's the case? So if someone has a dozen extensions installed, they have to check manually if they don't want to wait for the next release??

Wait for the next release?? Releases come on a monthly basis. Not a
long time to wait. Anyway, one need not use bundled dictionaries,
dictionaries can be uninstalled. Then one can use a dictionary
extension installed with the Extension Manager, and that is
updateable.

Hm ok. Anyway, coming back to the original question, IS there a way of getting usage data?

From time to time Florian Effenberger sends raw download statistic
data to the private marketing list. So TDF measure dowloads, yet there
is a question whether they make it public. AFAIK usage data is not
measured. I think tdf-discuss mailing list would be more suitable for
this conversation.

Just spotted an oddity in my locale (gd), under Settings > Web > Search I get the following for Google
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=

though it ought to be
http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=gd

Where does one change that?

Cheers
