Localised gallery item titles - yay or nay?

There is this old request:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90864
GALLERY: image tooltips/names not translated

If it were to be implemented, localisation information would have to be somehow included inside the gallery packages. In other words, many unknowns and moving parts. Also pending the finishing of the migration to the new gallery package format.

I wanted to ask from the localisation community, do you consider it important to have these translatable?

Ilmari

Yes, I would like it to be implemented, if we want LibreOffice to be a
fully localizable suite.

L10n issues should be considered by all coders of LO at the start/design of
code changes/development, not at the "finishing"/migration phases.

In other words, if this will mean some more work for the coders at this
phase, it might teach them a lesson - to consider l10n issues at the
beginning of their future LO endeavors, not at the end of it.

Yes, I think it is important to be able to translate the tootips of the gallery items, but also the items itself.
There are more places where items are not translated. In the key-id version there are no codes for Weblate to find and translate them.

No, since the Gallery, like some other places, is more kind of a place holder for extensions and user-defined artwork (drag and drop of images from the document into the Gallery)

Hello,

Ideally, yes, it would be nice to have them translatable. But I don't think it's high priority, as most languages have plenty of unfinished translation work left in other parts of LO.
