Mac Upgrade error?

Hi Guys

Im running OSX 10.6.8, running Version 4.0.0.0.beta1 (Build ID: 87906242e87d3ddb2ba9827818f2d1416d80cc7)
TinderBox: MacOSX TDF Release, Branch:libreoffice-4-0, Time: 2012-12-05_22:13:37

I believe it was one of the first beta release's, and decided to upgrade when i saw the little notification to download the updated version, after having put it off for a while. The version i downloaded was 4.2.2

First off i just dragged the file over, and ran LO, checked to make sure it was updated, just by checking about, and it still said running the above version? So put LO in the trash (in a nice way), copied the file again from the DMG and ran LO, and it still says the above version?

Anyone any ideas?

Cheers
Phil

Hi Tom

Thanks for letting me know there is hope...

I was working on a document at work, just a little spread sheet, basically it's a temperature check sheet for the cafe. Tried to make it a little easier to add a date at the top, and on the second sheet, just sum off equals the previous reference to the date and add 7. That wouldnt print preview on my win 7 machine, cant remember which version it runs, but i know its ver 4.2ish (i recently installed the OS). Came home to work on it again, and it wouldnt print Preview on that either, so i thought id try upgrading, sooo 2 problems in one day, not bad for me

cheers
Phil

I was running 4.1.6 and just downloaded 4.2.3. I opened the DMG, dragged
the file to the Applications folder and opened it on an oder document. It
worked fine, so I would recommend you do the same.

There seems to have been some weird time tunnel with Gmane, where I
don't see any of the posts after about 6pm on May 4th...

Im running OSX 10.6.8, running Version 4.0.0.0.beta1 (Build ID:

That 4.0.0.0 was very buggy.

I believe it was one of the first beta release's, and decided to

    says the above version?

If you tried moving the app to Trash when it was still running, it won't
have been deleted.

Did you empty the Trash after shutting down LO ?

I would also, for good measure, remove the LibreOffice folder in your
/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/ folder, and then restart LO.

Hi All

Apologies, i dragged over the LO file from the DMG, and i kept deleting the new installation, it wasnt untill i looked a bit further down my app list, that i saw LODEV!! my fault for not looking further, and the file association was still with that version..

But even after opening the file, the little bugger has lost its print preview, its nothing major to re-create, but would someone like to view it? to see whats going on for development purposes?

The file did open ok on my Win 7 laptop, i made a couple of changes, and saved it, and then wam it dissapeared from the print preview? it could be something to do with the headers? im not sure

Ive since tried it on that win 7 laptop running 4.2 (something), my Imac 10.6.8 running was Ver 4.0 (see other emails), and the newly installed Version: 4.2.2.1
Build ID: 3be8cda0bddd8e430d8cda1ebfd581265cca5a0f

Also im still running ver LibreOffice 3.4.4 OOO340m1 (Build:402) on my imac at work 10.6.8. I dont have a copy of linux running at the moment, im not entirely sure at the moment, but could Wubi a copy of ubuntu on tomor if needs be?

Cheers

Lol Tom

forgot about virtualbox tbh, even tho i use it frequently for other things like hotspot software, usually have a laptop with debian on, but think i had to nick the HDD out of it for some reason.

Might even try and power up the PI again, when i get access to the TV..

cheers

Hi
I think if you are on a Mac then don't worry about running Ubuntu.

If you really need Ubuntu then maybe in a virtual machine such as
VirtualBox (hah, i know it's Oracle again but they seem to actually care
about this project)

Hi
Of course Debian is same family as Ubuntu so it's all the same on the
command-line. Ubuntu has tweaked things a bit differently so there are
some disparities and it developed the idea of "LTS " releases which makes
it a bit more exciting and the UI is more glamorous, like a Mac, but really
they are both pretty much the same under-the-bonnet (for the most part).

Problem with virtualisation is that you really need a rock-solid host OS as
the foundation and preferably one that isn't going to throw a wobbly that
you are running a virtual machine and shouldn't even notice if you run a
different OS in the virtual machine. Macs beat Windows for this because
they seem to tend to be more stable and less vulnerable to malware plus it
seems to use less resources so it's easier to give the virtual machine more
ram and such. Windows does have it's own advantages, of course, but
"playing well with others" is not top of the list!
