message in Calc when attempting to sort merged cells not clear

Hi *

In Calc, when a range hold merged cell, and one tries to sort, there comes the message (English source):

   Ranges containing merged cells can only be sorted without formats.
   ( globstr.src#RID_GLOBSTR.STR_SORT_ERR_MERGED.string.text )

IMO this is nuts. I would say:
   Ranges containing merged cells cannot be sorted. Period.

Or am I making a mistake?
