nabble issue

Hi All,

I wonder if anyone can advise on this issue raised over on bugzilla.

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85652

Geoffrey is receiving a warning which I cannot see. He has though attached a screen shot of his problem.

I thought it might be related to settings although it happens on different browsers. It anyone has a comment it would be good to resolve this one and leave the programmers to other tasks

Cheers

Hi
On Ubuntu 12.04 and Firefox 33 i had no trouble when going into Nabble
either from googling-it or from the official LO website. The first couple
of links in the bug's thread did seem to have the same problem as the
Geoffrey though.

Can other people try on other systems? Mint and other Debian family
probably have the same result as me. Someone in the thread already tried
with Fedora. So ideally if you are using something else it might help
more. Windows anyone?

Loads fine on my system - PClinuxOS - KDE, Firefox 33.

Hello Tom,

Can other people try on other systems? Mint and other Debian family
probably have the same result as me.

Using Debian testing, with Iceweasel from experimental (v33), I just get
"Loading....", but can force a security bypass using the shield icon
at the left hand side of the address bar.

V Stuart Foote has suggested a workaround so let's see how the OP responds.

Thanks All

Hi
Work-arounds are usually great as a temporary measure. It's still best to
get the under-laying issue fixed properly and we seem to be on a roll.
Brad's answer looks like the sort of thing that might help the devs
pinpoint the problem. Ian's helps corral it into a smaller area but Brad's
might have nailed it down.

Good work folks!

Yeah! I *hate* workarounds.

Seriously; As has been said, they're fine in the short term, but a real
fix is always preferable.

That may be the case, though I doubt it, TBH. I don't think I added
much, if any, more than was already known.

I also believe Mozilla have been taking an ever more cautious approach
recently. I don't think this problem(1) will be fixed in Ff. In fact,
we'll see an increasing number of such issues.

However, as that's all got nowt to do with LO, I'll stop.

(1) As we see it. I don't think Mozilla do.

Hi all

V Stuart Foote has suggested a workaround so let's see how the OP

responds.

Well, it seems to depend on how Silverstipe, our CMS, reacts with the
browser settings of the users and maybe the provider. So yes using a direct
link instead of the CMS redirect should work.
Kind regards
Sophie

Hi Sophie,

although I think the OP has gone to ground it would be good to make a call one way or the other. I guess, do we want to flag it as a bug with a bit of an explanation?

Yes, but as it's a website bug (Nabble embedded in SilverStripe), a
ticket should be opened on Redmine for the infra team. I'll take care to
open the ticket and collect either what is on the bug and on the list
later today and will give the ticket number here.

Hi Sophie,

any news on this? It would be good to close off the bugzilla item.
