Hello, Does anybody know whether the native MySQL-connector for Windows will ever
be ported to Linux/Mac-Versions of LO?

Hi 
I thought a new one needed to be built for each different OS and each new
version of MySql? Also that building one is not all that complicated but
just takes ages once set to build?

The Linux distros provide their own version of the connector - well
actually, it depends on the distro - the popular ones do, the smaller
ones do not.
As for Mac, the connector doesn't currently build with master 4.3, in
fact it hasn't built properly since end of October 2013.
You can always try these with 4.2.x - your mileage might vary :
