Off line translating in pootle

Hello,

I want to translate in pootle off line. Downloading the file is not a problem, I have found the link for uploading, but I have no idea which file to choose to replace an existing file. The name of the downloaded file is not in the list.

Can somebody shed some light?

Many thanks
Best regards

Hi Leo,

If you download a file from, say, accessibility/source/helper.po, then you
should also upload it to accessibility/source/helper.po in Pootle (assuming
you're in the UI project root for your language).
If the desired file is not in the list, then maybe you have a "wrong"
folder open in Pootle, or maybe the file has been obsoleted -- or on the
contrary, added? Just in case, list of files no longer present in 4.3
(compared to 4.2):
  ./dictionaries/gd_GB.po
  ./dictionaries/ca.po
  ./sw/source/ui/uiview.po
  ./sw/source/ui/inc.po
  ./sw/source/ui/wrtsh.po
  ./sw/source/ui/lingu.po
  ./sw/source/ui/smartmenu.po
  ./padmin/source.po
  ./padmin/uiconfig/ui.po
  ./svx/source/unodialogs/textconversiondlgs.po

And new files in 4.3:
  ./extensions/uiconfig/sabpilot/ui.po
  ./extensions/uiconfig/sbibliography/ui.po
  ./fpicker/uiconfig/ui.po
  ./sw/source/core/uibase/misc.po
  ./sw/source/core/uibase/wrtsh.po
  ./sw/source/core/uibase/uiview.po
  ./sw/source/core/uibase/smartmenu.po
  ./sw/source/core/uibase/dbui.po
  ./sw/source/core/uibase/dialog.po
  ./sw/source/core/uibase/docvw.po
  ./sw/source/core/uibase/lingu.po
  ./sw/source/core/uibase/ribbar.po
  ./sw/source/core/uibase/utlui.po

Hope this helps.

Hi Mikhel.

I was going through your reply to an email from Leo Moons.  I have a question towards that.

What happens in scenario like the one mentioned below.

Assume that I  download a file from say  accessibility/source/helper.po and start translating it.

It is also possible that some other translator is translating the same file online for same language.

When i try to upload my translated file to the same location on Pootle, what happens to translations done by other online translator (Even though online translations may be partial translations ) ?

Hi Chandrakant,

Depends on which option you choose when uploading. If you overwrite the
file, then the other translators' work is wiped out. If you merge your work
into existing file, then others' work is preserved, and in case of
conflicts (i.e. you and some other translator have both translated the same
string) yours is added as a suggestion. If you add everything as a
suggestion, then obviously the other translators' work is preserved.

I'd say that normally, the merge option is the most productive.

Mihkel
