About to quite using any form of LibreOffice or anything related to it. How can it be that page numbering is so much overlooked that one needs to use footers or headers to try to implement it manually ???
I suggest to make this priority 1, if not DIVINE as it is the utmost commonly used function in Writer.

I'm not sure what you mean here?

The only thing you have to do manually, is setting the formfield to the
place where you want to have it and Writer does the page numbering for you.
So what specifically are you complaining about?
