Paragaph Maker not showing

Hello,

I have LibreOffice 3.4.3 (Build 302) running on MS Windows 7 Home Premium ( 64 bits).

One of the problems I am running into is that it doesn't matter what I do (selecting the nonprinting character icon; pressing Ctrl + F10) but the paragraph marker does not appear.

Is this an already reported bug?

I must say that I have been using OpenOffice since it was first developped and I never had this problem before. It is just LibreOffice 3.4.3

Thanks

Jose L. Navarro

FWIW Ctrl+F10 works for me on a Win 7 Pro (64bit) machine with LO 3.4.3
(Build 302). Sounds more like a configuration issue than an identifiable
bug.

Hello,

I didn't have the same problem with LO 3.3, it just occurred with LO 3.4

But now if I got back to LO 3.3 I have the same problem with the paragrapgh marker.

However, quite interesting there is no problem if I go back to the venerable OO 3.3

I have tried installing LO 3.4 several times, after cleaning the Registry, but the problem is right there.

As mentioned in my question, this is just one of quite a few "annoying" companions of LO 3.4

Any suggestions about how to "fix" it ?

Thanks,

Jose L. Navarro

Hi
Hmm, that sounds weird. Have you tried re-naming the config folder to force
LibreOffice to generate a new one? You can find the path from
Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Paths
and it's something like
~/libreoffice/3/user
You can use your normal file-browser. In Windows i don't think you even need to
be administrator or anything. I tend to rename the 3 to a reverse date format
such as 2011-09-06 so that LO creates a new 3. The newly generated folder will
get LO "back to factory defaults". If it works then you might want to copy back
some of your extensions, galleries and things.

I confirm: I have the same strange problem with LibO 3.4.3 x86_84 under
Ubuntu (FR langpack).
Re-naming the config folder solved the problem.

I am pretty sure that this bug was not there when I installed LibO 3.4.3
rc2 for my QA tests. Strange.

the paragraph marker does not appear.

I do have it to. But not right from the first use, is my impression.
However, Tools > LibreOffice Writer > Formatting aid > check Paragraph ends does work.
So there must be some problem with the configuration files.

Is this an already reported bug?

Had no time to look.. Did anyone else already check?

Thanks,

Hi
I don't think anyone thought of looking for a bug-report about it. It's not
completely clear where-abouts in the config folder it is but it's good to know
it's there rather than in the coding.

Ctrl+F10 / 'Nonprinting Characters' icon works for me (on WinXP) with
LibO 3.4.3.
Exception: Ctrl+P (opening the 'Print' dialog) in a document with
Ctrl+F10 activated.
Then the nonprinting characters will disappear...

Works for me w/linux 3.3.4 & 3.4.3 (same machine). Even changing views.
That said:
Tools > LibreOffice Writer > Formatting aid > check Paragraph ends
is on by default with my configurations. So perhaps that it the
trigger/issue?

Hi
It would be great if that bug-report could be pinned down a bit more from the
comments in this thread

Does the behaviour change when you check that off?
Do you happen to have custom changes in your key board settings (Tools > Customise > Key board) ?

It does indeed. Paragraph end's no longer show.

Do you happen to have custom changes in your key board settings (Tools >
Customise > Key board) ?

No. I think that it's most likely always been on by default. I'll try a
new clean install/profile later today & see what the defaults are set to.

Hello,

I'm on a mac with OSX Lion and I have the same issue for non-printing not
showing in LibreOffice 3.4.3
OOO340m1 (Build:302).

Where I do not have the Issue in OpenOffice and NeoOffice with the same
document.

As far as I'm concerned this definitely looks like a bug and not a config
issue. (I did not tinker in my config;-) Not even one single click)

There's already a 'confirmed' bug report.
