Please confirm bug 75376

Hi everyone,

Would someone please confirm this bug for 4.2.1.1 I just opened?

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75376

Sample document exhibiting the problem is attached to the bug.

Thanks,

Charles

Hi Charles

The attachment displayed fine for me in 4.2.1.1 from The Document Foundation running in Ubuntu 13.10.

Don

Charles, I had no problem opening attachment 94576 in version 4.2.1.1
(Build ID: 420m0(Build:1)) of Writer - no weird characters that I could
see, but the comma in $ 38,52 surprised me ; I should have expected a
decimal point....[?]

Henri

Guess I should have been clear.

I'm on Windows 7, 64 bit...

Henri? What OS are you running?

Thx guys...

Wouldn't that depend on what language is used. I thought some countries
use a comma instead of the decimal point.

Henri,

You are correct. The US uses the decimal point or period and I know some European countries use the comma instead.

There is setting under TOOLS>OPTIONS>LANGUAGE SETTINGS>LANGUAGE to set the default separator based on the system location (US, France, etc.). I think the default is to use the local setting but it can be reset.

Sorry, Charles ; I, too, should have been explicit : I tested on 64-bit
Linux Mint 16. Recently I've noted several issue reported by Windows users
which I have not been able to reproduce on GNU/Linux
; as I presume a majority of LO users are running Windows machines (Does
anyone know if this presumption is correct ? We should be able to get an
idea from the downloads statistics.), it's important that LO works well
with Windows OSes....

Henri

True enough, but I use English (US), which definitely uses periods there.

Someone else already confirmed the bug in the bug tracker, but apparently it is Windows only...

problem seems solved, it doesn't show on LO italian 4.2.0.4 on linux ubuntu.
