PLEASE STOP!!!

I am very concerned to see pootle being updated the way it is: No
warning, no justification. It looks there is no process at all.

Translation is not a lesser job. It is the first impression for
LibreOffice users.

If it is poorly carried, LO and its community will be at risk, and a
complete food-chain will fall into pieces.

I had to translate >8000 words of lost help string because the
transations were not carefully caried from 4.1 to 4.2. OK, I have my bag
of tricks, but nevertheless it took me days to fix it, one by one.

Now I see more and more string showing up from nowhere in the last
minute. Some string are from QA tests... we don't need to translated QA
tests. LibreLogo was once a separated project, now it is inside SW, etc...

I am scared to death to loose years of work on a mismanaged pootle. I
have my backup but if I loose track of the job done I will take an
amount of time I don't have to fix.

regards

Dear Olivier,

I had to translate >8000 words of lost help string because the
transations were not carefully caried from 4.1 to 4.2. OK, I have my bag
of tricks, but nevertheless it took me days to fix it, one by one.

Unfortunately tools do not support our special needs out of the box,
but after Cloph did migration with that perl script, everything is OK,
isn't it?

Now I see more and more string showing up from nowhere in the last
minute. Some string are from QA tests... we don't need to translated QA
tests. LibreLogo was once a separated project, now it is inside SW, etc...

I don't think we are in the last minute, there are several weeks until
the release, and the string freeze is in effect only after rc1. And we
all know, that developers add/remove/modify strings after freeze
occasionally. What we need, is more frequent updates and
announcements. I'm not aware of strings from QA tests, if you are,
please file a bug (CC me), and I'll take care of it. LibreLogo is an
old story I suppose... It was moved to sw in the early phase of 4.1
development.

I am scared to death to loose years of work on a mismanaged pootle. I
have my backup but if I loose track of the job done I will take an
amount of time I don't have to fix.

I hope nobody will loose work, translations are backed up in database,
in git, on people's hard drive etc.

On the other hand I'm also looking forward to seeing the end of
revolution, e.g. UI conversion, help/wikihelp conversion, etc. After
that, maybe by LibreOffice 4.3, we'll be back to normal translation
work, i.e. we will translate only strings of new features.

Best regards,
Andras

Hi Andras

Dear Olivier,

I had to translate >8000 words of lost help string because the

I hope, but I am not sure. There was an enormous amount of strings in
this batch. Most of them (help, <ahelp>...</ahelp> that were alreay
there in the past) I saw them in the 4.1 version, but they were empty
(not evenn fuzzy) on 4.2. I manage to load 4.1 as translation memory for
4.2 but even with this trick there was a lot of strings the TM could not
minimally guess, so... rework.

Now I see more and more string showing up from nowhere in the last
minute. Some string are from QA tests... we don't need to translated QA
tests. LibreLogo was once a separated project, now it is inside SW, etc...

Please help us by giving a clear [ANN] in the l10n list... I thought I
finished the job las monday and a new set of strings is there.

http://tinyurl.com/nlf7x4e, Not sure what I have to do with it.

I marked this file as non-translatable. It should disappear from
Pootle by the next update. Thanks for the bug report.

Cheers,
Andras
