No problem, sorry for being a little unclear, and thanks for your efforts at reproducing the problem...
The main point of my question/report - which I failed to emphasize - was the fact that the default format when copy/pasting cells from a spreadsheet into an Impress document had *changed* from calc8 to an Impress Table, which was causing the problems we were having.
The fact is, it is the fact that it defaults to pasting as an Impress Table that causes the problem (appearing to go into 'lala land' whenever there is any content of significance that is copied/pasted).
Also, when testing with just a few cells of simple text content (no formatting/colors/styles applied on a larger selection of cells (say, 10 columns and 20 rows), it does work better, but it still takes a *much* longer time to paste than I think it should (10 seconds? 15? 20?), but it doesn't totally lock up. But, when copy/pasting a larger set of cells with styles applied (and maybe some lo res graphics inside the cells), that is when it goes into lala land. But, to be more precise... I think I do recall waiting once (not doing anything else on the PC during this time) and it did *eventually* come back to life with the cells pasted in as a table after maybe 10 or 15 *minutes*, but the result was totally unusable anyway (the table was way, way bigger than the same content pasted as calc8 content and no amount of trying to reformat it would help).
I will get a sample document that exhibits the problem, and open a bug and attach the document. I'll report back here with the bug # once I've done this, and maybe you could then try the precise steps to reproduce the problem to verify it with the sample document in the bug...
