I have tried several times to upgrade to LO 3.6.3 Norwegian(nb).
Win8/Pro64 OS.
Every time it ends up with internal error 2503, followed by internal error 2502.
And then it just exits.
Any ideas what about what causes this?

Do you have LO/OO Quickstarter installed/open? Often this blocks an install.
No I don't.
I have never received those error messages when installing other versions of LO.
Are there any error codes info somewhere?
Use Google search

Hi
Open your old version and go to
Tools - Options - Memory
and untick "Quickstarter"

It has been unticked all the time.
Looks like this is a msi problem, rather than LO.
Hi :)
Ok, it might be best to uninstall the older version and then reboot before trying to install LO again. Normally you shouldn't need to but something has obviously gone a bit wonky this time.

Well, the older version is still working.
By uninstalling it I might still be unable to install the newer version, and be stuck without any LO at all... =:-(
It obviously is a problem with Windows Installer.
I have tried installing other msi packages, and receive the same error messages.
Hi
Hmmm, if that happened you could just reinstall the older version over the newer one again. Ahhh, the advantages of Freee Software being free! :) This approach ensures whichever version you reinstall picks-up all your settings without forcing you "back to factory defaults".
Another approach (which you might prefer) would be to install the newer version alongside the one that still works

As the older version was also a msi package, it would probably not work neither.
However, I've managed to solve the problem - sort of.
There is a hidden administrator account in Win8 that can be unlocked/visible.
When signed in as adminstrator (now with English language) those msi packages installed just fine.
Although I haven't yet found that other program that I installed again. No links to it from my regular account (which is supposed to have all the administrator privileges too).
As LO was already installed, the new versions inherits its links.
Hi
Nicely done :) Congrats :D Also thanks for giving the list the answer that worked best for you so that people in the future might benefit from finding the option fairly easily

I would rather call it a workaround than a solution.
There seems to be a lot of people with similar problems around - also pre-Win8, but mostly on Windows 8.
It appears to be a problem with file permissions somewhere with the Windows Installer.
Maybe combined with non-English versions of the OS?
Hopefully it will be solved by MS in the near future.
