whether there is a chance for improvement in libre office writer, headers and footers, so that was outside of the document and not in the document? as in ms office.
That is not clear. Headers in MS are in the Document

I know, but I meant here is that they are in the place of writing the text, should be above and below the text.
Its like that. They are above and below the text AFAiK. Could U take a screenshot of your situation and paste it somewhere we can see it (post the Url here)?

Hi
i can't see the upload there. Perhaps click on the link to Nabble and post
a reply from here. Just above the "Message" / Comment box is button "More"
and "Upload" is the 1st option in there.
It does sound as though something weird has gone wrong in the document.
Perhaps re-naming the UserProfile might fix it?

By "outside of the document", Łukasz means "on the margins". In MS Word 2007
and newer you can place text in the header/footer that is on the margin.
Honestly, I can't decide if this is great idea or just stupid.
Anyway, there has been some changes about headers and footers in LO 3.5:
<http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/3.5#Writer>. Not sure if this
resolves Łukasz's issue, since I use only stable releases. There are binary
for beta2 available and, according to release plan, rc1 should be released in
next seven days.

Well, come see how libre office 3.5
I'm always a bit behind the rest of the world. Does this mean LO 3.5 has
been released, or is this a pre-release notice?
PS: The download server has only 3.4.5 as the final and no sign of 3.5.

Please reread my previous post. As I wrote, there is beta2* available and rc1
is scheduled for release in next seven days. These are unstable versions
released for testing purposes. Stable 3.5.0 should be available in second week
of February (6-12).

* When I checked download page for testing versions of LO few hours ago, there
were only beta2. Right now there is beta3 as well, dated 14 January. Not sure
what happened.
Oh okay, as I said I'm a bit blonde. It's Monday! I'll wait the official
release date.

page update because beta3 is available for sure, but was in the queue waiting for 3.4.5 to be announced
Hi all,
using Libre Office 3.4.4
I was wondering if it was possible to create an easy in document list
manipulation.
Setting: Several bullet points below each other. (also for numbered list)
Features:
a) Move the individual entries up and down the list (not the hierarchy
just the position) with a click.
b) Order the List according to different criteria.
Secondly, I would like to have bigger Icons. Unfortunately the option
"big" and "small" for the icons has no effect on them whatsoever. I
also don't want to scale everything (as in the scale option) but just
the icons. If I understand it right, the scale option uses GPU power
all the time?
So what would be great would be Icons that I can expand up to 80 x 80
pixels, without using the GPU and without modifiing other menu
components.
Thirdly I was looking for a function that lists all the graphic
objects (lines, arrows, textboxes, smilies etc.) with the possibility
to erase every object at once, or change the textflow around each
object at once etc. I need it for example after converting pdfs to doc
and then erasing all the unneccesary graphics stuff.
And fourth. Is this the right place to post such a wishlist or is
there a hierarchical sorted offical wishlist somewhere around?
Thanks.
Martin

You always could write the header/footer "on the margins" (both in LO and in
MS Word). You just need to slide the ruler limiters to the grey part
One limitation of LO 3.4.x (haven't tested on 3.5) is that the Text
Boundaries line of the Header/Footer doesn't adjust to this new size (i.e.
no longer contains the text or objects in the
It is a GOOD thing that LO allows this, Miroslaw. If you notice most books,
the Header and Footer (in particular page numbers) are outside the text
margins

Or change indentation before text in header paragraph style (I prefer to do
everything with styles, so sliding ruler is not an option for me).
It is so simple, and I have never actually though about it. Thanks about
a tip.

Well, not really. Polish typographic rules defines "column" as potentially
printed area of page (so it is basically page size minus margins). Page
numbers (called "pagina") should be at top or bottom part of page. Pagina on
top should be placed *below* top margin, while pagina on bottom should be
placed *on* bottom margin (LO places footer above margin, so you have to make
bottom margin smaller, so margin plus footer would equal preferred margin
size). No text should be placed on left or right margins. Most books in Poland
have page numbers inside text margins (with exception for bottom pagina, which
is on bottom margin).
Of course there are many exceptions (photo albums, encyclopedias etc.).
Moreover, typography is more like set of recommendations than strict rules.
But general principle is that no text should be outside main text margins
(outside column, in polish meaning of that word).
As far as I know, English-American typography is really different than European
(most of all, German, on which Polish is modeled on), so your experience may
vary.
