Reptile Skin design for a 4.0.0 "Persona" / 33+ designs for LO 4.0.0 Persona/Themes

I really like how my "LibreOffice Reptile Skin 1" Persona design works out on LibreOffice 4.0.0.

Here are the current Firefox Persona/Themes with the key word of "LibreOffice".

I like patterns and other things. So I am working on those right now.

If I had some good graphics and photos that might work well as design for LO themes, I might do them as well.

I could use some constructive comments though. We all could. Designing a Persona/Theme for Firefox is one thing, but making one that was created for LiberOffice is a different thing.

Do we want it to have "LibreOffice" show as a text image there or just some nice graphics or images?

I would be nice to know what our users like for color schemes or background ideas. There are Green, Blue, Orange, Purple, and Yellow colors specified in the "Branding" Wiki. I am working on "green" ideas, since I choose a green themed desktop. But if there are others who would prefer Blues or other "branded" colors, I could work on them. Since LibreOffice does not have any Mascot, but there were ideas on that a while back, I may try my had at that type of image. But it really is up to the users of LO 4.0 to decide what they would like.

Actually having you Firefox browser have an LO themed background image for its menu system, would be a form of advertising, it may not be for every one.

Let all of us, who want to create these "Persona"/Themes for LibreOffice [and Firefox], know what you would like to see from use as themes and artwork.

Seriously? It's so bright that it's unusable.

Hi
I guess it depends somewhat on how your monitor is set-up.  I have 2 that are both supposedly 'correct' but one is a lot darker than the other.  I put "correct" in single quotes because i think both those monitors are a bit wonky and wouldn't be good for editing images.

Well, I could make it much darker, but then I would have to use White text.

It looks good on my Ubuntu's LCD monitor, and my Win7 laptop.

So decide, dark background and white text or light background with the default black text.

OR you could go and make a theme yourself and submit it to Firefox and get it approved. Then use that one.

sorry, should not have popped off like that. Going to a major doctor appointment in an hour or so.

I tried to darken the "skin", but no matter how dark I make it, it does not look good with light/white text - unless I go very dark.

Will make it into a theme and see if it gets approved.

Hi
It looked fine in screen-shots.  To me anyway.  I preferred the one that looked more like a manuscript texture but i'm still in the phase of trying out a variety.

When you say White text are you referring to the menu bar text? If so,
how do you get it to display in white? I'm using a persona from
Firefox and I have click on a spot where I think the correct menu is
to get the drop down. In Firefox and Thunderbird all of the text in
the menu bar is white so the black background doesn't hide, but in
Libre the text remains in black, so the text is lost in the background.

You have to define it during the submission process. You give it a name, define the header and footer images, and you define the text and accent colors for menu text.

I do not know of any way to change the menu text in a persona if the designer chose the wrong color for the user.

I try to use either a white color for dark backgrounds or black for the light background. Maybe later, I will make some backgrounds that will look good with some colored text. I test my persona/theme designs with Firefox before I submit them. I do not know of a way to do that with LibreOffice, but maybe later.

Of course, if you can get a hold of the designer, you could let them know that a specific theme and its menu text color did not work for your system.

My "light" reptile skin worked well with my systems, and another's but a user on this list stated it was not "working for them". SO, I decided to make a really dark version of the same theme and using white text instead of black.

Sorry this does not help you. For me there are a lot of themes out there that seemed to have dark images and dark text, or others where the text color was not standing out enough to use.

Edit:

Just noticed that LibreOffice does not use the defined text coloring.
I do not know where you can change the font color of the menus.

So, I wonder why LO is not using the persona/theme menu colors. Since LO's menu text color is black, you will have to use the lighter colored themes.

Hmm, I thought it was something in the original "skin" I've seen it
referenced that determined the text color. I use the same persona for
Firefox, Thunderbird and LO 4.0. In Firefox and Thunderbird the text
in question is white, but in LO it's black. Just for your info, its
Star Trek by lolodetahiti.

Yes, they defined the text to be white, but LibreOffice does not use that color definition, or something like that. LO does not use the footer image, either, is seems.

I had replied to your prior post before reading this one so sorry if
it comes across a little weird. I did find the link to the specific
persona/theme if you want to check it out:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/star-trek-182292/

Yes, the Star Trek theme/persona has defined the color of the menu text to white [or there about] and LibreOffice does not pick up the specified font color.

IT might be fixed for the next version, but I would think someone will need to make a bug report for it. Maybe then it can be "officially" addressed as a bug.
