restore windows

Hi friends,

I installed LibreOffice on my sister in laws Mac OSX Lion and after 1 day of using it I got a error message "Restore Windows" and I don't know how to get rid of it, I tried reinstalling it and deleting even the Preference files but it keeps coming back and the program is totally blocked.

any ideas
Thanks so much
Michael

Hi
Sounds painful!  Please could we have a few more details?

1.  When does the error message appear?  Does it appear when the machine boots-up (switches on) or when you try to open a file/document using LibreOffice?

2.  Can you still use other programs on that machine, such as opening the web-browser or playing a simple game or viewing photos?

3.  What did you re-install?  Was it LibreOffice?  Did you get the download here
http://www.libreoffice.org/download/
(There are other legitimate places to get it from but so far i have only used 2)
If you did get it from there did you change the first drop-down to Mac OS X ppc or intel?

4.  When you deleted the preferences did you do that from a file-browser to navigate to the
/Users/<user name>/Library/Application Support/LibreOffice/
folder to delete the "3" folder (or the whole "libreoffice" folder either should do the trick.

5.  Have you tried opening a different document, other than the one that went wrong?
6.  Have you tried opening one of the other LibreOffice apps from the Mac menus rather than opening by clicking on a document?

If it is a window with the Cancel button, use that.

Kind regards,

I will have to wait and check tomorrow. Sorry

Hi
Don't worry about not being able to try out suggestions straight-away. Just
let us know what you were able to try after you have tried it. The list is
likely to still be here! (barring world-ending calamity or the sky falling
on our heads). A bit more info would be great.

People often don't accept that things are not always 100% perfect all the
time and may need trouble-shooting to find the cause. The actual fixing is
usually fairly quick once the problem is identified. One office worker
(quite high up in the chain too) told me his machine was completely "dead
and totally useless" but it took me 3 mouse-clicks to fix it when he finally
stopped ranting and let me actually see the problem. Down-time was about 2
days, fix took 1 minute.

If the user blocks access to the machine it's usually best to walk away or
offer to take the machine to a shop to get it fixed. It might cost money
unnecessarily but it beats making an enemy.

Hi guys,

It gives me that error when I try to open a doc. or even when i just try to start LOffice. I had deleted the app. in the apps folder and the 3 folder and the plist in application support. when I went to download the program at www.libreoffice.org it gave me the same error message.

Hi
Deleting (or renaming) the 3 folder 'should' fix it.

In the folder where the problematic file is there might be a file that starts with ".~lock." if there is then that is probably the problem.  Just delete it.

Looked through all the folders in the 3/user folder and didnt find a ~.lock file.

The ~lock file occurs in the folder in which the document is located.

Hi
Not where the program/application is but where the last document was/is.  The "~lock. filename" file is probably a hidden file so you need to configure the file-browser to "Show hidden files&folders"

Hi guys,
Great news LOffice works, I deleted "org.libreoffice.script.savedState" found in "Saved Application State" in Library on OSX Lion.
Thanks so much to everybody and the creater of this list.
